And it's all cause it had a 7-bar shield it throws out at the beginning, on top of knowing Obstruct.

Not even a whole bunch of fighting-type moves thrown out would even matter if it got off Obstruct. And since it often can use Obstruct after it uses a Max move or other, Feint wouldn't be able to work in time to nullify Obstruct

Pidgey survived a Spearow’s 5-hit 2-crit Fury Attack from full and Beedrill lived a wild Paras’ crit Scratch from 18 HP

this is fair trade for my Butterfree which died to a Rattata’s crit Tackle from 26 after I calced a crit as only doing 22

Gen 1 teams in general are pretty wack

Misty, Surge, Sabrina, and Blaine, for example

Heck they also messed up Giovanni in gen 1 as well

between both Koga and Agatha, they use a total 5 of those 13 poison lines

Giovanni also uses 2 of them. That still leaves 6 completely unused

That's what I would say if Sabrina didn't randomly have a Venomoth and Erika also has both Vileplume and Victreebell

How Tentacruel didn't end up on either poison team is baffling with Koga using 3 weezing line pokes

Agatha also uses 3 Gengar line because Ghost is bare af

Erika: Only replacements for her team are Exeggutor and Venusaur, which the devs both try to reserve for Blue
Koga: Replace a Koffing with Tentacruel, replace another with Venomoth or Beedrill
Sabrina: Replace Venomoth with Slowbro
Blaine: Actually add Magmar to his team, as well as Ninetales
Giovanni: Remember to evolve a Rhydon

At least gen 1's issue was having far too few pokemon to work gyms with

Gen 2 decided to add next to no Fighting and Ghost types

Gen 3 somehow forgot to give Wattson a Manetric until Emerald

Gen 4 had Flint and Volkner in DP

They didn't get it consistent until gen 5, which was also the gen they reduced the overall gym and E4 team size
