Yeah so far I haven’t had any performance issues myself
Texture optimization though? There’s a place in the very beginning that it’s REALLY noticeable
The game legit can’t handle bridges from what I see on streams

i don't blame them
got to first gym, havent done any of the other stories yet
but D&D is delaying my progress,
Twitch has a Lechonk emote now
🐖
GameFreak deserves a round of applause for this one
At first I thought it was just the Fletchling
The golden bro
Same, it took me a minute
Lmao apparently the game loads the entire map at all times instead of just areas. That'd explain some of the lag
❗️Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Early Game Movement/Speedrun Tech❗️
❗️No spoilers❗️
❗️The "mounted BLJ" (Backwards Long Jump)❗️
Use this Tech with your legendary mount to climb up slopes you couldn't while facing them!

holy shit pokemon blj real

Is this game gonna have nearly as quick a speedrun as the early BDSP ones at this rate?
(Looks at Nexus's other post as a part 2, ability to use the battle starts as a method of warping)
Yeah maybe
Not even an hour in and I ALREADY FOUND A SHINY WHAT
Jeez even by Pokémon standards these games needed more time in the oven
what's that noise in the background?
Bro this coin Pokémon is the ugliest thing I laid eyes on
idk probably a fan
||Goldingo ate your baby?||
The most important mon obtained
Game is extremely flawed, but fucking around in open areas catching mons is where the game shines
god the concept behind this game is honestly so sick
the fact we finally have an open worldish main serieis pokemon game is so nice
if only it looked or felt remotely good to play LMAOO
Yeah that's kinda how I feel
I'd love it if this game wasn't a rushed unfinished mess with a lack of content
tl;dr from what I’ve played just before the first gym
not good, a lot of fun if you like fucking about catching random mons
I'll give this game credit, its long
I've heard it's like artificially long tho
BLJs was NOT one of them
As in there's just big stretches of empty map between content
The big stretches of map have Pokémon
That’s the main content
Btw in terms of doing mono type nuzlockes
This one might be the best
63 different Pokémon caught before getting to ||school||
I’m definitely gonna pick up the game but probably not today or tomorrow
Obviously the Pokemon are the main content, but there's only so much just catching Pokemon and walking around you can do
Who in gods name is keeping a game running for 5 days straight
Like memory leaks are concerning but
Hmm people keeping technology on for more than 24 hours? The IT in me wants to slap this person
Has anyone else completely fallen in love with the new Bug type in the first area
BuT hOw CoUlD tHiNgS sTaRt To FaIL bY mE nOt TrEaTiNg TeChNoLoGy PrOpErLy?!
Which one? The ||silk spider|| ?
||Tarountula|| my beloved
yeah this is an absolutely ridiculous complaint
Yeah I like him
the only way you'd ever run into this is if you were actively trying to make it happen
It’s so beyond me that people use technology daily and do dumb shit like this and then try to blame it on some stupid shit
This will sound dumb but this is like complaining that Mario 64 has a BLJ in my opinion
Not BLJ
Uh
Parallel universes
yeah like
It’s a thing you will realistically never encounter
just don't leave the game on for 5 days
There's plenty of legitimate things to complain about, I don't see the point in reaching for that one
turn the switch off when you're not using it and stop wasting electricity
Tbf, the shit storm isn’t as bad as swsh, scarlet and Violet has some clear issues, mainly graphical and with optimization, but the new ideas they threw this gen are only positive
I mean they def did some dumb shit. Removing set mode, removing interiors of buildings, etc
They even changed the way the tutorial works
Which was one of peoples biggest complaints
Removing the post game
...wow the ||terastilise theme really is just slightly different to the gigantamax theme||
I realized this too
I was like huh
Is this a ||remix|| ?
Also the story in this game is actually solid
No spoilers, but def something worth reading through the actual text
Like it starts the same but changes a bit into it
Why does the theme for an overenthusiastic school club go so fucking hard
Nope. No shops have maps
LOOKING AT A TIMETABLE LIKE “WHERE THE FUCK IS THIS”
In this video, competitive Pokemon VGC player, commentator, and content creator Aaron "Cybertron" Zheng explores the history of game balance in competitive Pokemon, with a focus on the VGC format in particular. We take a look at some of the largest buffs and nerfs for the past few generations!
Thanks to the following for their work on the video...
about halfway through this so far and it's pretty good imo
On god this is the worst sandwich I have ever seen
“Whatcha want on the sandwich”
“Pickle”
“Anything else?”
“Pickle”
That thing cost $9-10? (Assuming Poke currency = yen)
So wait this is open world?
This is the tackiest animation I have ever seen... the off kilter sandwich, whilst the trainer bites the air with no easing on the tweens.... the floating Pokemon in their idle animation staring at nothing😭😭😭
67823
7324
wait that's the actual animation?
So, the game good so far?
Biggest issue for me personally is a lack of post game content
So, room for shiny hunting
Do rock salts usually shape like that, or was there reason to why it shaped like a mushroom, it’s super cute
can't believe they put me in the game
Wait I just fed my Lechonk a ham sandwich
cannibalism
What have you done
Hi I’m Salt Goodman, did you know you have rights?
YO THIS GYM LEADER THEME IS FUCKING FIRE
I was watching a friend stream the game and there's really like a 3 second delay any menu interaction huh?
Enter battle, wait 3 seconds. Switch mons, wait 5. Move, 3
The music is really good tho
Good thing it's really hard to screw up music in gaming industry
Especially when you have Toby Fox on payroll
Reuploaded because uploader got terminated.
That Gym Battle fucking sucked
Fury Cutter was doing half health on turn 1
How much does this Terastalising boost moves by?
yes, and its still funny they literally named a salt pokemon with a chemistry joke of a name
so is the salt line any good?
Its typing doesn't do it any favors
Not to mention having 35 speed in a meta dominated by HO
At least it gets recover
In any case
Y'know what was the best feature in the franchise?
It was not following pokemon, the battle frontier, nor the pss, but this
What am I looking at
Secret Base slide
I found a mimic fella
From the lilycove museum, to the contest stat minmaxing, to secret bases, to the regi puzzles, to the battle frontier, to the secret sale, to the puzzle master's house, to the random battle facilities you can do midstory, to the mirage island
It just feels so... Complete
Yeah rse does a ton of little things to make the world feel more alive
God I wanna get the game
But my options are waiting until Christmas, 2 hour round trip
Or asking roommates for a ride lol
also the fact that i personaly 100% completed emerald
and i had to do some obscure stuff like getting the e reader berries to make a specific selection of pokeblocks while managing 4 save files to get a high score on the minigame to feed them to a smeargle
and mixing records with a japanese ruby save file while using a japanese emerald save file as a middleman so i could get the regi plushies
and saying a bunch of gibberish to a random npc in rustboro to make a child laugh since you were supposed to say sentences that showed up on a japanese blog post
and then i played throught the game cube games because i wanted the mythicals and a moltres with will o wisp because i wanted to breed an ADV OU team from scratch
real shame that my phone got stolen so i ended up losing my save file
still want to do it all over again, but i need to get caught up with some other stuff first
gen 3 just hits this weird sweet spot for a sense of nostalgia for me even thought it was my third pokemon game
and i suppose this is why i heavily disagree with people settling with the amount of content offered with recent titles besides the main story and maybe shiny hunting some mons
like, it's the little things that make a game stand the test of time
also, on that note, i did in fact get a wynaut from the mirage island
like, only things i didn't bother with were like
all of the spinda patterns (lol)
temporary stuff like pokérus
and making a living dex, just never felt too interested by the concept (i did complete the regional dex tho, so it would only be a matter of breeding all of the NFE mons)
also, i did ended up grinding all of the ribbons, mon of choice was a colosseum smeargle
I wonder what these Gimmighoul coins do
||999 of them makes you able to evolve it||
I know someone would brought this up but counterpoint, the the guy is faker I bet he aint even trying with this one
Issa funny tho ngl
We.B's cover of Gotta Catch Em All the full opening theme song to the original season of Pokémon featuring, the late and amazing Billy Kametz. Half of all proceeds if not more of this song will be going to the Colon Cancer Coalition - 🤖 DOWNLOAD/STREAM 🤖 - https://ffm.to/pokemontheme

The HQ video's that I upload on my channel are strictly modified one by one to create the perfect transitioning and EQ settings on my DAW software. Each song has been extracted by me from the game that I bought and I am the first one on Youtube to enhance the quality for each specific song (hence why it says HQ). This takes a ton of time and I d...
why does the grunt battle theme go so hard
Gimmighoul is confusing me a lot
They’re Level 16 now and they still only have Tackle and Astonish
Plus I have like 70-something coins
Anyway, I caught a Stantler, one of my favourite mons
Where possible I’m just using new ones though
I wonder if Stantler will be able to evolve?
the answer ||is a no||
Like in Legends Arceus doesn’t it have some special thing
ye
I never played it
It evolves from Stantler after using Psyshield Bash in the agile style at least 20 times.
What
so stantler gained a signature move, physical psychic, raises defense as a bonus. PLA's gimmick is having styles to choose from and rather than normal turn based, you have like a speed based order, speed style makes it so it's possible you may move multiple times in a row, but at the cost of the move's power and strong style slows you down but gives you more power
Is that move in Scarlet
I don't think so. Might be added once Home transfers are possible
Anyone with violet wanna evolve charcadet for me
https://twitter.com/Pikasprey/status/1593723777476599808 the speedruns sound like they will be so funny
So before I even went to the school in Scarlet/Violet, I accidently found a way to warp across cliffs, and skipped right to area 4.
1607
275
I have no idea if I am underlevelled or not
@warm sky can I ask for a no-major-spoilers thing
If he's not available I can answer too
Okay
My question is, where in the map should I be headed to use these Gimmighoul Coins
I don’t know what they do but my Gimmighoul is level 22 and has two moves
Don't you just have to collect 100?
So I assume you use them to power it up
I don't think there's a place, you just have to have them
I have 235 of the fucking things
999
It just says “that’s one of the materials you can use to make TMs” like everything else
Oh wait lmao
It's 1000 coins
So what you’re telling me is to rotate this thing the fuck out of the party
It's very late game stuff yeah
I mean it better be tbh
Ghost||/Steel type with an ability that prevents statuses being applied to it||
How many coin does one give or do you have to collect coins seperately
I’m getting like 100 or so per Gimmighoul maybe? No, less, I caught one and found two
You're supposed to be able to speed it up with Go
But the small indie company that game freak is didn't set up the interactions between the games until 2023
Gimmighoul and the coins are in both games already
This dude lost 500,000 dollars on NFTs
Yo is that Jimmyhere?
This will sound dumb but so far Paldea feels like
sparse ig
Like it’s obviously not, there’s lots of nature and shit
But it feels like there’s no people
God this game seems like it’s the closest thing to a full blown Pokémon disaster since Pokémon dash
Not really seeing it tbh
I’ve seen a fair few glitches on Twitter but I haven’t gotten the chance to even get the game yet
キルリア進化!

Jesus Christ, Nacli gets scary when it evolves
“It salt cures its prey alive” holy fucking shit
I need to get a water mon
try azurill and it’s evos or surskit
Deep inside, I want this to become the new Furret-Walk lmao
Best character in Scarlet so far is this buff woman with glasses
Now get 999 coins
Jesus fuck this battle theme goes hard
me when i see a mareanie spike and realise toxapex’s reign of terror still isn’t over
Had my first crash
Miraidon wants that giant M&Ms apparently
Link doesn't work
Oh… it’s been deleted…
Idea, one moment
Nvm… it didn’t work…
Have this instead https://twitter.com/_makeshiftwings/status/1593666930543656963?s=46&t=lLpWLzHObiC91An4uidqkw
@mighty storm
i need it
Ikr
BEEG FREN
also where can i find sinistea chips in violet
smash tea cups

Is it true the performance issues for this game is bad? Didn’t buy it because I heard it was
Haven’t buy it yet but seems to be the case
Twitter is flooded with people showing the game glitches
I want that Kamen rider mon, I just need to decide which version I want, annnd wait till next month to even be able doing anything…
get violet miradon supremacy
I’m kinda between, like, Scarlet’s roster of Paradox looks cool but… a lot of them came from weaker-looking mon like misdreavus or jigglypuff, don’t know if they increase their stats or anything, while Violet’s roster looks bland af, but pretty much all of them came from strong Pokemon, not Delibird tho
in terms of really bad stuff, there seem to be mixed reports, with some people claiming them and others saying they're not having them
might not be a bad idea if you get it to periodically exit out and back in, since some people are saying that helps
saw an unsourced claim that there's a bad glitch with mesagoza infinitely replicating itself, but without a source, i'm not buying that at all
i'm still waiting on my copy so whenever i get it, i'll report anything unusual i come across
also as personal anecdote
nothing gamebreaking on my end but the performance is aaassssss
so much shit moving at 4 frames a second or lag when doing sharp turns while moving fast e.g.
it sucks too bc like i was saying the ither day, the core ganeplay loop/design of this game is one if my fav in the series so far
just bigass open world with multiple options of hoe to progress stories
even if a lot of thet is just dicking sround catching pkmn/fighting trainers
are your issues also happening in the wilds or more in the cities?
but god the game runs like hot ass
cities for sure
more npcs/complicated textures doesnt help i imagine
yeah that corroborates with what i was hearing too
Thanks. I’m just gonna wait and hope they release a patch to fix some of the issues. I’ve waited this long so I guess I can wait some more
lmao some people I know have found shiny ||male combee|| and ||male salandit||
is that enough to be spoiler tagged
probably not but I'm overly cautious about spoilers anyways
damn those metal pokeballs on the pokemon center website seem really cool despite being like $100 before shipping
Give us Paldean Corphish you cowards
Water steel type Corphish with steel-like shell
Sorry, I mean OG Corphish
Hoenian Corphish & Hoenian Zigzagoon have taken the limelight for too long
Do Pokémon games not do a gts type thing anymore?
pretty bad yeah
but the reason why? apparently its loading the whole map at once
that to, restarting tends to fix some lag issues
I assume there is no word from GF about hearing of/fixing the issues
Where Hisuian Magikarp
I'm in the same boat. I'll maybe pick it up if they fix it, but there's no indication they will
Definitely an unexpected turn of events in the new Pokemon game.
You don't get to insult arven like this
honestly imagine if toxapex didn’t come back
suddenly singles players would have to actually think about a wall
I can rest the roof on all these glass canons I have
walls are for cowards and shuckle enjoyers
I too like unga sweeper press button
Anyone else getting earthquakes when they make sandwiches
yea it's a matchup check
no?
Got a shiny gible
thats what my friend was saying
I forgot how shit garchomps shiny is
iirc you just shed tail into shedinja
Ah yes magenta shark
huh
since shedinja is not even in gen 9 to get the move in the first place
ah
so you just tera elec an air ballon shedinja behind a sub
You shed Tail into Shedinja and the goal is to make it impossible to damage
Aware that you know how bad it is, but, DO NOT EVOLVE
What the fuck is Toedscool
Shedinja was banned in National Dex OU format for gen 9, not the regular OU for gen 9
This is just Tentacool
somehow not a regional variant btw
Mostly cuz it [Shedinja] doesn't exist in the SV dex
it's its own species
Could not resolve English data for searches: shedinja
It is too late
The fuck

It will be a yugioh card in 2030
Does this gen have the same competitive accessibility features sword and shield have
i would hope so
Yes and no
yes, except that they made breeding much more convoluted because?????
Elaborate
||also no battle tower||
There are only like four trainer classes
y'know
the fact that some aspects of sv are worse than sword and shield kinda says something about how gf operates
for every step forward, at least a step and a half back
Can we still fix IVs and EVs and stuff
I’ve got one badge, I beat up one base, and I found three of the big Pokemon
But I don’t actually know if I’m doing anything in the right order
The map descriptions will give hints of how strong they are
game freak be like
- ||No battle tower. Instead, your endgame loop is exclusively raid battles. All items that you could get at the battle tower are now purchasable. Except for the Ability Patch, that is now an RNG drop from raid battles. Prices on these items range between 1000 and 50,000 pokemoney||
- Breeding: ||You now need to wait by time in the Picnic with only the pokemon you intend to breed. They will drop an egg in picnic after a while of walking around in the picnic area. There is also a chance they can drop a random egg entirely, which is completely asinine.||
- Hyper Training ||now can be done on pokemon level 50 and above instead of just level 100.||
- Cramomatic ||is gone. You have to buy all the items you need instead of crafting with lesser ones as an option.||
oh good they made a new steel fairy pokemon
||i miss the cramomatic
||
everyone’s favourite combination
||There is also a chance they can drop a random egg entirely, which is completely asinine.||
wat
||so if i have only ditto and sprigatito in my picnic, there's a chance they could make a fuckin magikarp egg?||
Also, and this one's more a general statement than a problem or benefit: Movepool distributions were redone by a solid amount
||correct, a random mon just comes in and drops an egg in the basket||
||oh so it's literally the fuckin babies come from storks thing||
Biggest example of this overhaul is that Scald is now exclusive to Volcanion
Maybe I’m being a scrub but can they just stop making Steel/Fairy mons
They made an unambiguous best type combo in the game and then gave it to mons in like four consecutive gens
Yeah tinkaton's probably the most balanced they've ever done this typing
Klefki was an RNG fest in singles
Mega Mawile was one of the best megas
Maegearna was a walking laser cannon in singles
Zacian is Zacian
don't forget magearna
Why do I keep finding old guys with toothbrush moustaches
wait can you explain that last part of #2 lol, that sounds insane
one of choccy's spoilers does that
||the top right corner of the map being obscured implies that we may be able to visit kalos in some point, similar to hgss, meaning that we can probably go to the battle maison, which since it is dlc locked and the fact that it also existed in ORAS which has a battle frontier project in progress, could imply that we're getting the battle frontier again, kinda?||
Yeah and to that note: ||just a generic Battle Tower being DLC restricted would be really, really stupid. I normally would hope there is more to that feature, but SwSh's facility was a doubles pokemon league tournament so||
||yea, surely they wouldn't lock behind dlc a feature that, althought bland, has been a mainstay since ruby and sapphire and not expand on it, right?||
||right?||
||$$$$||
||Mainstay since Crystal||
||still really fucking sucks that they're doing paid pre planned dlc to justify the rush of the development cycle, unlike stuff like star allies that did it for free||
||ah yea right, forgot that was a thing||
||Or Mario sports games that did it for free, despite being bare bones on debut||
||Or Mario Party G- ahhhhhhhh right||
||still remember the fact that nintendo put a fucking DRM in their first mario mobile game||
I found a funny visual glitch
I know why it happens and a lot of games have this but it’s amusing
If the camera’s at a certain angle the water in the ocean disappears
The fact I can see the texture repeat hurts
that seems to be a recurring theme with SV bugs
very few are actually game breaking
but most of them are amusing
I've had one crash in the time I've played
Happened cause I jumped into a waterfall iirc

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet performance is really bad. The games are still so much fun...but it'd be a lot nicer if they ran better! Here is your first ever fix, and it doesn't need a patch! Try it out and enjoy Pokemon Scarlet and Violet gameplay better than before!
Best Early Game Tips for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: https://youtu.be/2Arzcetf1...
this dude is wordier than me
and that's not a good quality if you want to give information efficiently
yeah this didn't need to be an 8 minute video
'up+b+x lets you access backup save'
'restarting your game helps with memory leak'
all of that could have been communicated and explained in like 2 or 3 minutes tops
instead of talking in circles and going on random tangents about people bitching about the games
Gotta get them midrolls
It’s actually better as you can get multiple eggs from the same picnic
No comp player will tell you new breeding is worse
Team Star Boss theme is so fucking good
its not, its a new pokemon
just like how wiglett is not a diglett
GOLD MAGNET!!!
congrats, I still havent found myself a shiny in SV yet
These shinies in Masters are basically useless but hey, it’s basically free shiny and forever trapped
Me when I gather 10 Sunflora and then run off, kidnapping the stupid flowers
Oh.
The gyms don’t scale in level.
So doing the Bug one first by accident meant uh
The Grass one was fucking pitiful
Yup, there's no level scaling
It was my first gym, you didn’t miss much, the grass gym is pitiful regardless
yeah its weird they say you do can do the objectives in whatever order you want
when you just cant
I cant decide if them keeping high level pokemon disobeying you without gym badges was good or not
In regards to rhat
I heard that if let’s say you can only control pokemon up to level 20, if you have a Pokémon that levels from 19 to 20 and beyond, it will still listen to you, but the “obey” part only comes into play of you capture a 20+ Pokémon
I think this is true
I had one badge and all my mons were fine
But I caught a Level 26 and it loafed around
if it functioned as an actual cap, that'd be great
but it'd be even better if they had done actual level scaling to go alongside it
if the cap functions as rui and rasputin say, it's still okay but not as good imo
the issue is that when you're designing level-based content, it becomes a thing where you need to consider that someone can simply grind way above the level for that content and just nuke it
or in the case of sv, simply alter the order they tackle certain content so they can do certain things overleveled
but pokemon's design philosophy would probably prevent them from implementing a true level cap/scaling combination
these games are meant to be enjoyable by anyone, including (and especially) young kids
a more competitive design philosophy that i might enjoy more, may not be as enjoyable for that demographic
similarly, having a mon you caught and were able to use properly, suddenly disobey you out of the blue because you overleveled it, might be something that could negatively affect certain players' experiences
as for scaling, some players simply like being able to nuke content with higher level things
it's not my preferred way of playing, but some people do it
Yo Tandemaus is fucking ugly
tandemaus a cute
yeah, acutely ugly
anyway, back to my spiel about design, i feel like if they actually gave players the ability to customize those kinds of settings, that'd be cool
they won't, but it'd be nice
nah just cute
Tandemaus commited heinous war crimes
Wait
People dislike the gym theme?
But it’s so good
Actually tbf the chanting is meh
But people don’t like the jazz bit??
I think I hate Iono
The convergent evolution mons this gen aren't great
What benefit does a mushroom get from looking like a jellyfish
WHAT DO YOU MEAN DUNSPARCE IS EVOLVING
Jokes on you ||it's just slightly longer||

so, what do you think of the ||lamest cross gen evo||
Where do you get the ||water tauros||
version exclusive to violet
blasphemy!
Holy fuck I thought I was overleveled for the desert and then Great Tusk swept my entire team
and Arven has a Level 44 which is ten levels higher than me
I won because of Salt Cure
It took seven revives and all of my mons
Holy fuck that one seemed way stronger than the surrounding area
I am so confused about level scaling
I’ve been using a scaling guide
I've seen a spoiler-free map with a suggested order
You can also afk
Garganacl is great
salt cure really ridiculous ngl
Should I like
move
I saw someone use it on a corviknight and that was a big OOF
Aussy owo
Nacl is salt so garsalt
gargasaltdust crusader
Found a bunch of black sticks
Pulling them out of the ground
No bad will come of this
Well
I’ve been completely ignoring everything
and I now have 948 coins
I know there must be one last Gimmighoul to fight on the map somewhere but I swear I’ve been to every watchtower
…what the fuck
i’m fighting nothing
i just beat this gimmighoul and now i’m apparently fighting its ghost
A ghost of a ghost..
A ghost of a ghost of a ghost, that's when you gotta start worrying
I got annoyed seeing like 200 and just gave up on everything except finding coins
I guess I use them on Seyi (my Gimmighoul)?
Nope, just one level up
Oh my god
noodle cheese
WAIT WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS ABILITY
yeah
HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS SHIT
Eldlich's surfer brother
For getting all the coins
I didn’t think it’d be like
Jesus fucking christ
WAIT HOLY SHIT THEY BOARDING
Now I’m struggling with my party
idk who to have as team members
I guess that’s a good sign
but ugh
Deciding is hard
Goodbye ||silk spider||
Oh are you playing a nuzlocke
Can't believe this unfinished animation I abandoned became canon.

@mighty storm

Wait it has spikes??
Blobby boi
Forgot about that, still cute and looks very huggable
Just how many glitches are there in this game
Yeah
Very few of the glitches seem game breaking which I guess goes to show they at least prioritized the actually bad glitches?
The glitches seem reasonable so far, so yeah it’s fine
Also, nice to see we got the stupid spin again lol https://twitter.com/muku_jirushi/status/1594179893272940544?s=46&t=F5U17vzVny4BA7UNSIYC7A
Are there Alcremies in SV?
Uhhhh
I wasnt able to screenshot it, but I had a jumping animation glitch where Koraidon was leaning forward (as if still in midjump falling) while on the ground.
it teleported me back to where I was before the jump after 15 seconds, but it was funny
Lmao
Lmao new Speedrun bug found:
Plug in a second controller and use both to move??
Your character runs a lot faster if there's 2 controllers connected, for some reason
Tfw they tied the movement to the controller bind but not to a specific player

I wonder if you jump on the bike with all 4 controllers on the same frame if it will launch you into the stratosphere
Good question
this game is charmingly buggy
But it really shouldn't be
"Charmingly buggy" excuses "released unfinished when it shouldn't be buggy"
3 year dev cycle too short
It is when you cut your team into 3 teams that are all too small
Gamefreak needs to hire new, better staff
New staff doesn't mean much at this point
(Also stop making the games in their own engine and just use one that doesn't suck)
And yeah, the bugs would be charming if this was an indie teams first attempt
The current engine is too dated
But it's THE BIGGEST MEDIA FRANCHISE IN THE WORLD
Bigger than the entirety of Disney
The game should come out finished
I don't mind the harmless bugs, but shit like ram leak and just randomly falling through the floor?
Unforgivable
It also just lags like hell when you do anything
the speed bug I have to try out, that sounds amazing
And that's not okay
did you see the long trainer bug/
New game idea @warm sky: Try and find out what people who are defending the bugs said about cyberpunk 2077 on launch
Because I'm sure most of them weren't as nice to that game
Honestly? Gamefreak shouldn't be doing these anymore
Charming is definitely not the first word that comes to mind pertaining bugs
Especially in this age
They've shown ineptitude multiple times since the beginning and now its rearing its head in a major way
More Devs and more time are good
There is zero way this game went 3 years into development without them noticing the massive ass memory leakage issues
thought the same thing 2 days ago lmao
it's like ass yeah
people will defend these games because it's pokémon
The thing about pokemon having these bugs is that the games are not very progressive to begin with, and SwSh, BDSP, and SV have reason to argue as regressive overall
Mind you, I do agree from what I've seen that
SV's formula
is probably some of the most fun for the 3d era
But the performance issues and bugs are inexcusable
Wanna know the biggest thing that's gonna be different tho? Cyberpunk actually fixed a lot of the bugs. And the game is $30 now
It has strength, but unless GF fixes the fact the frame rates KILL themselves
and other such major issues
I ain't even touching the game pirated
SV’s formula is great in concept but that is now the only thing new that feels progressive
And it can still be executed a lot, lot cleaner and more user friendly
I mean hell, BoTW came out on the same console 6 years ago
I know comparing most games to BoTW is a bad comparison, but SV directly asks to be compared to it
BoTW also took like 10 years to develop tho
And yeah, I'm on the same page about the formula for SV
There's a lot of dumb decisions, but the general gameplay idea is great
If only the game would run
Arceus did similar improvements but it had far fewer dumb decisions and it was a stable game
This is just what Pokémon is now
They pawn off remakes to companies that crank out the same game we played over a decade ago, they release games in clearly unfinished states
All for the money to be received a bit earlier
Can we stop the bullshit with calling SV regressive? SV is legitly the biggest leap this franchise has taken in terms of bringing it to the modern world EVER
Argue optimization issues, but SV is anything but regressive
gargasalt
that's the point of that whole line, it's one big salt pun
I'd say scarlet and violet took steps forward
But with what they've removed, it feels like a tiny little one rather than a big one
if we wanna talk about biggest leap, PLA is right there
And then add in the blatant and unavoidable bugs, glitches, crashes and memory leaks
Gar-ga-salt
Or
Gar-ga-na-cle
Of course, did SV not just take a bunch of features from that and try to implement them themselves?
Yes
I’m just tired of the echo chamber of “breeding got worst” but not a single person can tell you how it got worst and are only saying what other people are saying
Then the leap should be compared between PLA -> SV shouldn't it
And I’m tired of you calling stuff you don’t agree with an echo chamber
You don’t exactly feel good to discuss stuff with
It got worse because a random extra egg is being thrown into it sometimes increasing the time it takes to get a good one
Lmfao because I can agree with the negatives of this game, but you can only say negative shit? Please miss me with that shit and mute me if you don’t like it
There’s criticizing then there’s actual just negative Nancy behavior
Yeah PLA took a lot of steps forward and (wasn't buggy or ran like shit)
SV comparatively adds very little and removes a decent chunk
SV is the best step for a modern pokemon game, but it's just really not there at all
This too
If you're breeding comp or for a shiny and you hatch a random mon you don't want, you've just wasted some time
I think there are positives to SV, but I think the current negatives outweigh it tbh
PLA was also a single player game. Where you don’t have to care about QoL features that affect the game at large.
The breeding I agree with you the random mon shit sucks
But in return we can afk and get multiple eggs from one breeding session
SV is also largely a single player game
That’s way more time efficient than having to check up on the day care every so steps
Sure you can do stuff in the world together, but it's not really fully multiplayer
Yes, but what I’m saying is PLA didn’t have to make decisions based on a game that is mostly played multiplayer.
All their decisions were experimental to see what sticks, what doesn’t, what’s actually able to be carried over
Yeah but technically SV didn't have to do that either
The multiplayer really isn't a big enough draw to make the decision to do all the weird shit like cutting basically every interior from the game
They did though? The entire bitching behind Gen 8 was that “it’s just another Pokémon game”.
The issue with gen 8 wasn't that people couldn't play it multiplayer. That's what raids and stuff were for
The issue was that gen 8 didn't really try anything new on their new hardware, cut features, and dumbed down everything else
If gen 8 was exactly the same as currently but had SV multiplayer the complaints wouldn't change
This actually feels fresh. If they ever fix the optimization issues, I’d argue the game would be really good. But the decisions they made this gen to address all the complaints of last Gen are a step forward
I think on this note I'm gonna run down my positives and negatives for the game:
Major positives:
The open world exploration is very nice
The characters in this are the best they've been since like gen 4-5
Some of the new designs have worked their way into my favourites
Some battles are actually challenging
Terra types are a cool concept
Positives:
The gimmigoul hunt is well rewarding and keeps you engaged, but it's hard to keep track of towers you've found before
The TM system is nice, but a bit too grindy
Some of the leaders and elite four members are either funny or have their charms, but others are just a gimmick on a stick
Negatives:
The Pokémon in this gen are laughably unbalanced, like there is some stupid moves abilities and stat spread in this, to the point were they've had to nerf a Mon in the day one patch and they're still nuts
The towns are boring and you can't go into any of the houses, and it's hard to tell what the shops actually sell sometimes
The day night cycle takes too long to rotate
Major negatives:
The performance of this game is inexcusable
The open world "do what you want" style doesn't work because you're funneled into the dev intended order unless you grind to break it or abuse AI or broken mons
The champion in this game is a fucking joke to the point where the second elite four member felt more like the champion battle
People complained about the tutorial last game? They fixed that. People wanted more accessibility for comp play? They optimized that even further this game. People wanted a more open world feel? This achieved that.
Oh also people wanted an actual story? You got the best story since BW
It's also still worth noting that you can't actually do things in any order
Because stuff doesnt scale and you've gotta get the badges in order so your team doesn't stop following orders
Second point isn't true pope
Pokémon will follow your orders so long as you caught them before the level cap
No matter what level they end up as
Yeah I posted that earlier
But not as bad
It shouldn't have been the case at all, or they should have capped levels if they wanted that tho
I dunno, I'm sure if they fix the performance issues the games feel good because the core gameplay is always good
But even ignoring them, there seems to be a ton of rushed stuff and the games seem like they needed another year or two
There’s also 1 section of the game that does have level scaling funnily enough
It’s an end game section, and the Pokémon will always be the level of your highest party member
Then why not do that for every gym
It’s not a gym that’s why, it’s just the open world
This hasn't been my experience in any of the locations I've visited
It'd surely be easier to code it in for every gym then, though?
They're high level Pokémon, but none that got above like... 65?
Just made like 8 teams and set up scaling
Sec jot I’ll tel you exactly what I’m talking about
Not calling you a liar or nothing I'm just not knowing of the section you're referring to
I don't understand how the game can load in the whole map at once
Cells have been a thing in Open World Gaming for at least 15 years
tangent
Smogon banned Flutter Mane and Houndstone from OU
On Saturday, the SV OU council held its first vote on potential quickbans from the preliminary metagame.
This post will be used to announce and discuss any bans that happened while sharing the full results for the sake of transparency. In order for a Pokemon to get banned from SV OU at this...
Good
I'd like Cyclizar to go too
They'd change the ban based on home
The idea is houndstone doesn't have any other viable sets so a move ban would effectively be the same thing
flutter mane quick banned
predictable, inevitable, etc
houndstone quick banned
still think it should have been last respects, it's the only thing making houndstone broken and the move will have distribution elsewhere, so just kill the move and save yourself the trouble later
i also like how someone saw flutter mane before release and thought it was bad or something : ^)
Yeah, unfortunately
Right now, Houndstone is the only legal Pokemon with Last Respects. You cannot alienate a singular move as being banworthy if only a single Pokemon learns it; the necessary burden of proof for banning a move would be it directly causing multiple Pokemon to be banworthy.
yes you can, you just don't want to
this is just an excuse for the ou council to wear blinders, or otherwise not apply critical thinking, and just hit a mon instead
They don't want to deal with houndstone if it otherwise proves troublesome elsewhere
Not that I can see how
if it did manage to prove itself troublesome with its average kit aside from last respects, then they could consider hitting the mon as well
but i can assure you it wouldn't
but let's be real here, it's being hit because of last respects
so hit the move
esp as we know it'll get wider distribution later, on a better mon
This shit unironically reminds me of Nappa from abridged "ban the Mon" "are you sure that's wise?" "Look either ban the Mon or we have to cancel your 6 o'clock"
the guy masks it behind rigorous-sounding language like 'the burden of proof is that it'd cause multiple mons to be banworthy', but that's just an excuse when it's known it'll be given wider distribution later
well nothing digital is bugless but these are kinda alot
you save yourself the headache later by nipping it in the bud now
that was fast
as time's gone on i've kinda soured a bit on the whole philosophy of bans and whatnot, but by their own standards, yeah, it had to go
thing's way too good
I mean, ideally mons would get readjusted as opposed to bans
But that's on gamefreak and they don't give a shit
I feel that some of the bugs/issues are ones that were solved decades ago
And really have no reason to be in the game
They are, but gamefreak doesn't learn from the industry
Reminder they make their own dated engine every gen instead of using a standard
The reason why we never got a Pokémon MMORPG is because nobody at Gamefreak could figure out how
also probably because a big part of their target demographic is little kids, and throwing them into an mmo sounds rife with potential problems : ^)
Yeah I will never really agree with smogon's "we want to keep bans simple"
Little kids who experienced Gen1 in the 90s :p
I don't love Smogon, but they're doing what they can with what they're offered for the most part
The last respects thing should have been a move ban tho
But the majority of it is that they've gotta ban, because gamefreak won't nerf
It'd be so easy for GF to nerf shit but they don't wanna do that
Wow, they quick banned Houndstone? I agree with Argor, knowing Basculegion is on the way, they should have started with Last Respects
Their logic was dumb on that one yeah
"we don't wanna ban a ton of mons when home comes out"
Then ban the move
I agree it was a problem to look at, but yeah don’t agree with their solution
to be fair, they've shown a willingness to do nerfs, even (honestly especially) in this gen
scald has no real distribution anymore, for example
Flutter Mane getting quick banned is no surprise
way too fucking strong
Yeah true, maybe they'll move more towards nerfs
But they also leave a lot of the overbearing mons alone because they're new
chien-pao is one they're keeping an eye on but presumably they wanted to do bigger fish first
I would imagine Chien Pao and Roaring moon are next on the radar
so flutter and hound
Surprisingly Iron Valiant is not nearly as popular on ladder as some of the other big threats
They said they wanted to see how the format looks minus the obvious hits first
The only thing people will probably argue in favor of roaring moon staying is unaware.
Which isn’t a good reason to argue
It's more of a check than Flutter Mane had, but yeah...
If anyone wants an example of why fluttermane was banned
Roaring Moon and Chien Pao are next
Even better example, Spectrier was Ubers and it has one of the worst movepools ever
Like the meta for Flutter Mane didn’t even fully flesh out and it was still ridiculous
flutter is spectrier but significantly better, yeah
Flutter Mane is like if Spectrier had a solid movepool, ability, and typing
The sv engine was made like 3 years ago though
it was never long for this world
With Protosynthesis which stat is prioritised with even split 135/135/135
Calm Mind was just starting to get looked at and most people hadn’t taken up an evolving meta where Flutter Mane could reasonably run Taunt
Comes down to EVs
I mean it's still based on previous work, and simply put... pokémon needs something more advanced?
Like very literally in the dev talk they showed the engine for PLA and SV was made like very recently XD
Actual stat number is prioritized ye
I dunno if you tie the EVs and IVs tho
I assume it goes to whatever is the "best pick"
I feel like 99% of pokemon's problem is time
more like it's not up to par with modern stuff
oh yeah no
I agree
1-2 more years is NEEDED
Are any Iron Pokémon broken atm
Delibird seems promising
Valiant
Valiant
Having seen the dev talk the engine is actually not behind from what i can tell
Deli bird is a really good sweeper but has an ass move pool
well then it's just dev time even moreso
Iron bundle is really scary
The Pokédex entries for the Paradox Pokemon are so disappointing
If Iron Bundle had a better move pool it would be up there with Flutter Mane
Yeah its dev time
The 3 year new gen release is effecting even the anime at this point
I have a guess why
Its a theory based on leaks though
Iron Valiant isn’t as fast or offensive statistically as Iron Bundle, but it has mixed sweeper stats and a disgustingly good movepool
Every time I use a water type, I think to myself "this could just be bundle"
Is it the ||imaginary thing again||
Also Iron Bundle is ||a futuristic robot built in the past?||
||yeah it might not be entirely incorrect and the way it all says the design was from some book sort of points to that||
Yeah the ||paranormal magazine gets a lot of mentions||
Offensive Typing is already insane
Knock Off
Other type coverage like Water and Grass
Tera typing
Swords Dance
Agility
Hell it can lead with Encore and T wave
I think it might be related to ||the third legendary, what with how the "time machine" tried to crystalize the ai prof||
The idea that ||some entity infected modern Pokémon with either future or past is acceptably ok||
I still like my theory about ||the third legendary hijacking the "time machine"||
Ye
Earlier in the meta game :v
Damn
if you need advice with beating the titans, there is an ez strat for them
that involves salt and lemonade
I just punched them really hard
salt cure is such a good move for cheesing them
People who've gotten the game:
Would it be worth buying a switch primarily or only for SV?
I wouldn't advise buying a switch for these, no
I'm doing a Dark mono run of Violet (just got an Umbreon
). I know the game has flaws, but tbh I'm enjoying it a lot
If you're gonna do other things, a switch is fine
But I wouldn't buy a whole console for them
Dark has a lot of new good mons
ye, i've seen that in action
for these alone? nah. But switch has lots of good games
i woudl have expected them to be immune to dot, but seems not
Eyyy Noct is back
if you still don't have a switch by this point, probably not
I mean, I bought a Switch for Smash, then proceeded to barely play it (I prefer Melee q.q)
Yeah dark/ghost has some really good mon this gen
get one if you have other things you'd want to play as well
Hey Thugs :p
In truth our family has a Switch
My sister has one
But I don't know if she'll share lol
I was considering a ghost mono run before I decided to play regular
I was sorta doing regular, but changed my mind later on, boxed everything but Dark-types and stuff that evolves into them. I hadn't gotten far into the game yet though
Yeah I couldn’t decide between Bellibolt and orthworm as my favorite Pokémon for the gen
Who is your team so far?
So I was just like f it, I’ll do regular
Current line-up is Floragato (26), Maschiff (25), Bombirdier (24), Lokix (29, just caught) Umbreon (23)
Nice
I just got to the Water gym and am doing the challenge thing
My team is horribly under-leveled compared to the wild 'mons
Ove done all 5 titans, 2 whole gyms and none of the team star base :v
This was my team when i entered the school btw
clodsire my beloved
I'm somewhat annoyed that my Umbreon's Tera type is still Normal after evolving q.q
I guess it gets decent Normal moves anyway
But Dark would've been nice
||oh shoot i just noticed the book, it might further proof the theory||
It was one of the earlier areas, I wanna say somewhere between the school and the first gym
I'll check in a sec, in a battle right now
Oh nvm
It says in the stats
South Province Area Two

its funny how we can now BLKJ
are you ||gonna evolve mankey to the new evo?||
Ye
backwards long koraidon jumps making climbing unneeded
Klawf pog
@foggy oxide danke
You're welcome :D
Bruh I need someone to send me the violet exclusive Evo of the flame kid
there is no Universal bug fix and no bug is the same even if the visual side effect is the same
you're going to defend the choice to load the whole map at once?
as for the game itself, they rushed it and now we suffer
Things the open world industry solved decades ago
again there is not Universal fix
you just get alot of box when you have a half-baked game
it's a matter of time, care and polish
What the heck are you talking about
There's as close to a universal fix for not loading the entire map at once
it's called loading cells
....
Different game different Hardware different team
15 years later.
well we know the "future" isn't all better
WTT: my auspicious armour for a malicious armour
Perhaps not, but people tend to learn from the past
Can't disagree with that
like rn they are likely working on 2 more
at the same time
plus dlc for gen 9
it's just a bad way to approach games since nothing takes priority
the switch is also half of the issue
since no third party dev seems to know how to optimized the hell of it unlike Nintendo themselves
It's absolutely not
Like absolutely not
The thing runs Skyrim which looks better and was ported by Bethesda fine
Are you responding to the Switch comment or the Tandemaus comment
The switch comment
the switch is hella not the issue
there's far more intensive games running smoothly on it
The problem is optimization
idk it seems too take too much work to optimize for most third party games
well not really
And the fourth game made by the company
Doing wonder trades to try and get this armour pokemon
Nintendo literally owns a third

It's second party at worst
still
mhm
That's just another excuse gamefreak gets
doom eternal runs on the switch too
Unrelated, but man, finding cool Pokemon in random locations is such a rush tbh
Found some Gabite and Gibles earlier and now a Dreepy
again it's not even that. the issue you guys keep comparing games that are nothing like. not every game is build the same
The mountain areas are specifically good for this
