How SCP-303 could be implemented:

#

lemme write now

#

Before we start: by "character" I mean what we, the player, use to play Minecraft. We control a "character".

Idea 1

  • When a player is close to a door infested by SCP-303, the player gets an effect like "Scared" that makes them step away from the door. Like if you go near it, your character will back away.
  • Also gives weakness, to avoid the player breaking the door and blocks around it
  • Gives a text on-screen when 303 appears that says: "I'm too scared to get close" or "There's something there"

Idea 2

  • A more non-accurate way to implement him is that, when the player is close to a 303 infested door, the character warns us saying "There's something there" or "Better not open that door" or "Something's scary is waiting there".
  • As we get closer, we start getting weakness and slowness. This is because our character is trying to phisically stop themself (and us) from going to the door.
  • If we open it, 303 will disappear like Herobrine does. It could also jumpscare/hit us, but that's not something he does. Instead, he could leave us with a "Scared" effect, which makes our character paranoid when close to doors.
  • It jumpscares us if we open the door.
#

Additional ideas

  • It knocks on doors
  • It knocks on windows. Now 303's almost invisible, so it's model could be kinda trasperent when it taps on windows. If we glance at him, it disapears and relocates to another door/window.
  • When we see it, 303 could make a sound effect, like a little laugh.
  • If there are no doors or windows close to the player, 303 could hide under the player's bed, blocking them from sleeping. A message could appear saying "There's something under my bed" or "I'm too scared to sleep."
  • It hides inside chests, making them unopenable. Technically chest can be opened and closed, like doors. A message could appear that says "I'm too scared to open that chest" or "There's something inside"

Addendum- 5/1/10: SCP-303 appears to have claimed the 2nd floor storage room as its own. It has so far disallowed any personnel entry to the room since 4/5/10. It leaves periodically to acquire Foundation property, which is then moved into the 2nd floor storage room. To date, the following list describes all non-classified items taken by SCP-303:

One (1) β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ cryotube
Three (3) sets of standard Foundation surgical equipment
β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ
Two (2) D-Class research cadavers
One (1) gasoline-powered generator
A variety of chemicals, including large quantities of tryptophan, phenylalanine, β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ and tyrosine, among others
One (1) container of powdered coffee creamer
In addition to this, a number of classified materials have been obtained by SCP-303. Staff are still attempting to determine what specific purposes SCP-303 may have for these materials.

Theres a big problem...

#

As far as I know, SCP-303 would spawn behind doors and others cannot open this door. The problem here is that the entity must spawn behind the door, not inside the door or on the same side as the player. Also there isnt a procedure to disable right clicking doors to open them :/

#

Maybe I could do the thing that 303 spawns when opening a door while having a random effect that also adds a text on the Actionbar. If 303 spawned, it attacks the player and may give some other effects when spawned like darkness, weakness or else idk

this mod could be very nice but i don't really see the gameplay behind

I like that idea a lot!!
Since Zcoper pointed that spawning the SCP on the right position/side of the door is a problem i see another approach:

  • SCP-303 is rarely visible, so what if the model wasnt even "real"?
Instead of spawning a whole visible model, just a simple and tiny (to avoid hitbox colision) "invisible" model, that stays in a 0 block range of any "cursed"/random door. Since its invisible it wont matter the side it spawns...
  • Instead of disable the right click on doors leave it, but:
  1. When approaching a cursed door (outside open range) darkness effect is applied to the player, and maybe the "There's something behind that door" text displays.
  2. If the player proceeds to interact with the door, then it opens, but trigger the SCP to despawn and slowness, weakness, mining fatigue and darkness are applied for 1 minute to the player interacting. (maybe use the door sfx trigger)

I know it removes the visual appeal of the SCP itself, but since it isnt supposed to be seen, those changes would simplify the development and instead of being a Enemy mob it would become a Atmosphere horror mod, that CAN impact gameplay if the player open the door like in the example you gave.

What do you guys think?
