My rocket with rover for duna flips when started

btw if you can't get faster it's possible that you don't have a big enough air intake. If you're only using the one that I can see in the screenshots that is probably the case
so im doing a burn and my burn time is 1 min 42 seconds do i wanna burn at 0 min 21 seconds or 1 min 21 seconds?
Yeah. I have been testing other craft. Got to 6.7
Half of 1:42 is 51 seconds. But there’s a better way: hit escape, go to settings, and turn on extended burn indicator
If I buy the DLCs from steam, can I still use them with the KSP launcher?
the launcher just runs the exe, it will include the DLCs as normal

the DLCs work in the same way as mods, they are folders that the game searches for and runs the content of. If they are there, they get run.
so KSP even searches the steam folders and stuff?
There's a folder in the directory, GameData. It's where the base game keeps its files, it's where mods go and it's where DLCs go. Anything in there gets loaded.

for subassemblies you gotta maybe the root part of it the part that joins onto the main craft
so in this case that would be the fairing
also u would have to redo the rocket it looks like bc thats fairing base is wider than the rocket itself and take off the top so you can actually put it on
bc its not placed, go back to where you were building the subassembly and reroot it there

You need to set the part below the capsule as root first before taking it off

alright so apparently with fairings the aero center doesn't matter in the slightest because even with SAS and a fully gimbaled vector this thing still tips over immediately

thats because i added a probe core to the main rocket so i can get SAS for maneuovre nodes, but then it messes up and just spins

You found be focused on whatever you set as control point If that's what you mean
so if i keep a probo gold in the rocket body as the control point, then detach the skycrane and switch to the heq-5, it should work fine?

there's a stock bug where your ship can keep the "landed" state when taking off, it might be related to decoupling on the surface. KSP Community Fixes will help

the limits are shown at the bottom left of the screen when you're in eva construction mode. having other kerbals nearby will increase the limit
not all stock parts can be moved, get a mod named PartVolume
and read the instructions for the mod, it's a little unusual
alt-right-click to open a new part window without closing the old one, or pin the old one
If you use only 2 of 6 you will get the Same amount of dv as when using 6 of 6
if you remove those other 4 engines, it would increase the dv

Your orbit still doesn’t quite match the drawn one. At one of the places where they cross, a radial in or out burn should help

You should launch when the command module is about 15-20 degrees behind you

press alt-v or remove the headset and you should be able to use the mouse. Some cockpits do have quicksave/quickload/revert buttons

from the install guide:
Scatterer. After installing the latest version of scatterer, you must copy the Scatterer folder from the Optional Mods directory in the KerbalVR release zip over your Scatterer folder in GameData. This will replace the scatterer.dll to make it compatible with VR:
so the lens flares from scatterer do not work in VR, and KerbalVR contains a patch to disable them. I've heard that spectra's sunflare patches are authored in a certain way that makes them active again even in VR - so you'll need to find a way to remove those, but otherwise spectra should be fine. If you want to replace the sunflares, I'm pretty sure FlareReplacer works
but installing spectra will not break the visuals with kerbalVR installed

Hi guys, thank you in advance. I'm trying to learn more on efficiently using my fuel by using gravity turns, I try to lean towards east at about 100m/s but my rocket is too stable that it corrects the turn and flies straight up
you might have too many fins on the back, or need to turn earlier
Is there a sweet spot for the Mass/Aero/Thrust for a more successful gravity turn?
thrust must be pointing through the center of mass. a high CoM is more passively stable, and a lower center of lift is generally more stable, but the blue ball in the VAB can be misleading because it only looks at lifting surfaces and not drag
you want passive stability, but not so much that it's impossible to turn
if the problem is too many fins, then removing some will help performance as well, removing drag and weight

You can add up the wing areas of all the wing parts and control surfaces and divide the mass by that to find the wing loading, or you can just test it and see if it takes off with a reasonable speed.

You can restet all expiremnts, only for goo and science jr you need a scientists
mobile process lab can reset any docked ships but it is hard to dock on land plus you still need kerbal in the lab to do it so idk

Bun voyage is a afk rover autopilot mod. So you can drive around duna in like 2 minutes

So Scatterer keeps giving me this error: [Scatterer][Error] Destroying duplicate instance, check your install for duplicate scatterer folders, or nested GameData folders. And I'm havin trouble finding the "duplicate" folders its talking about. AFAIK it might be talking about the Astronomers Visual Pack mod which also has a set of planet config files?

is there a way to set CKAN to download an "incompatible" mod without having to set the supported game versions to include it? wanted to download scansat, but CKAN thinks its for an older version, and would rather not have it include a lot of actually incompatible mods

you don't need to activate the engine (though that works), you can just right-click on it and do "run test"
so I am doing a rescue mission around kerbin orbit and as I am approaching the vessel, I expected to be able to control the kerbal and RCS him back to my ship.... but it looks like I was supposed to have to dock with it. How was I supposed to know that up front? The contract didn't specify...

when doing an orbital insertion burn, is it more efficient to get captured at a low periapsis and raise it higher later or get captured at a higher periapsis
usually you want to do insertion burns as low as possible to maximize the oberth effect, but I'm sure there are edge cases if your target orbit is very high and the body has very low gravity

to do the repair rover on mun contract do you need anything special other than an engineer?
If you have to repair a specific part, then you'll need some EVA repair kits (the actual number depends on what part is broken).
If the contract just wants you to make the rover operational, then you need to find it in the tracking station, analyze it to see what's preventing it from working, and bring along the relevant part. For example: if it's out of electric charge, bring a solar panel and battery.

I have another question, I looked at Task Manager and apparently I have 8gb of GPU memory and shared GPU memory, but when I went to BIOS it said I can only go to 512 max vram. There is a part in the same tab as the reaction wheels called the Advanced Fly-By-Wire [Something] that gives all SAS modes

i found Lossless ISRU but it removes the tradeoff for using the smaller convert-o-tron (and also i think 5000 xenon per ore is slightly overpowered)

It's just a small Module Manager patch to modify the resource converters a bit. It contains no code, so as long as MM doesn't die and resource converter configs are not changed (neither of which will ever happen), it is immortal.

a refuel station on eve probably isn't that useful, because it's not terribly hard to land on eve (but sending the rocket empty and then fueling it on the surface might cut down on the size of the transfer vessel and lifter)

if this is a custom planet it would explain it maybe? Id check the mod maker's wiki. If it's a stock planet then id try the stock scanner as well and see if that gives different results

thats like, the percentage the game uses to designate low resource areas. The small drill wont work in places with 1.8 I believe as a result.

Any ideas why my rocket continues to flip over? Already looked for centers of drag, mass, etc. Biggest pieces at the back, getting smaller at the top. Fins at the bottom, control surfaces to help guide. 1.52 TWR. 4 SRBs and 1 Gimbal Liquid. Problem steering occurs immediately after liftoff.
Seems like the control point of the main stage was set to reverse, making the navball seems upside down. I've flipped it now so I'll see if it works
