You can cut a bit of when doing fly bys and a direct enter intro laythes atmosphere
Only landing yes
If you're doing a direct approach, then all you need is transfer burn to the Jool system (<2000m/s) and then get a Tylol assist into a Laythe capture. It should look something like this, but you don't have to get it all in one orbit:
Full screen recommended for this
the white arrow means that part can be largely ignored due to aerobraking, depend on how you get to there (although you might need 100ms if you're spacecraft too heavy with parachute alone)
And for interplanetary aerobraking always use a heat shield
And be very cautious with interplanetary aerobraking at Eve
I’m not the best to ask for this. But I would budget 900 m/s for Kerbin orbit to Laythe surface
The idea is to just get a Mun transfer and do 4-5 assists off Mun and/or Minmus (yes, really) to gain the rest of the energy for your Eve transfer
From an Eve transfer you can get to Jool
And then use Tylo / Vall / Laythe assists to get a nice easy Laythe aerobrake
Kerbals 70 years later. We made it, but at what cost
With a good transfer window it shouldn’t take that long
1 year for the Mun and Minmus assists
1 year to kerbin -> eve -> kerbin
2 years for another kerbin assist
2 years to Jool
