#How to increase FPS

Hey there. I thought I might share what steps I did to increase my fps. However keep in mind that it only is a workaround, you will most likely still suffer from those micro stutters/lags but the game itself will run a bit smoother. I was able to increase my fps from 30-60 to 80-145. Obviously I can only share what I can do with my graphics card and system. I run a 4070TI in Win11, so i can make use of frame generation. And obviously: It worked for me, on my system, doesn't mean it will automatically work for you. We could treat this thread like a platform to share other tricks to make it run smoother, but that is up to you guys and how much engagement there is.

For 4k Nvidia Series card:

  1. Change the game to Fullscreen and turn off V-Sync. Why? Windowed Mode seems to produce the best fps, but too be honest who wants those nasty bars? Fullscreen seems to produce steadier fps than borderless.
  2. Activate the Gaming Mode in Windows 11. Go to Settings > Gaming > If you can't find Farever in the game list add it manually > Set GPU preference to High Performance > Enable Optimization for windowed games.
  3. Right click Nvidia in the system tray > Open Nvidia Control Panel > Surround, PhysX > Set PhysX to CPU.
  4. Navigate to 3D Settings, one instance above Surround, PhysX > Add Farever manually > Scroll all the way down. Set both Threaded-Optimization and Vertikal Synchronisation to ON
  5. Double click on the Nvidia system tray icon to open the Nvidia app > Graphics > manually add Farever (select 3 points and 'Add a program')
  6. Set DLSS Override - Super Resolution to DLAA (100%) > Set Smooth Motion and Vertical Sync to ON

For 5k Nvidia or newer:

  1. Set DLSS Override - Frame Generation Mode to Fixed with any multiplier
  2. Set Smooth Motion to ON

Optional for any card:
Set a Max Frame Rate limit to about 90% of the optimized fps you are now getting to lift stress off your gpu.

thanks man !

From my testing simply limiting FPS via VSYNC or just setting a hard limit within Nvidia gave the same performance boost as all of these steps.

Also if you the changes within 3D settings that fully overrides what you changed within the Nvidia App itself as a heads up.

#

the 3D settings and Nvidia App settings are the same thing just the 3D settings within Windows will override what you have in the Nvidia app.

#

Limit FPS + Smooth motion will make your game much more enjoyable, that is all you need to do.

Going to try the fps limit.

#

Any specific number to set it too. Or just anything

#

sitting at Tyrna tp point, this is pretty solid fps for this spot since it renders like the whole map from here. lol.

#

in dungeon with no fps limit on

#

tldr; Frame Generation works for this game if you have a 40/50 series Nvidia GPU.

#

This is with a 5060ti and a 5800x cpu on 1440p res.

waxen saffron
#

oh damn you get really good fps. . FPS limit doesn't seems to really do me justice. My original settings work best. I get around 80 fps in Tyrna, 120 in most dungeons.

unkempt geyser
#

yeah limiting FPS just allows your GPU to not get cooked to 100%.

#

so I can get areound 180 fps in dungeon with my gpu at 100%, so I am limiting to 160 to stay at around 90%.

#

These are my settings, I didn't do any changes outside of Nvidia app as seen in this screenshot.

#

Frame Gen can be set lower if you have a 4000 series gpu, I just did 6x for fun.

waxen saffron
#

Got it, so probably since I'm mostly running like 80 fps, taht would be the best limit for me.

unkempt geyser
#

you can 1000% get more fps if you do these settings and change back your PhysX settings to default.

#

your 4070ti is more powerful than my 5060ti I believe.

waxen saffron
#

Yea it might be the rest of my system that is limiting me. I got older ram and an older processor

subtle drift
#

Frame generation is significantly improved in the 5000 series tho

unkempt geyser
#

My cpu is 6 years old and I am running 32gb of DDR4.

waxen saffron
#

Yea i see fraktures and screen tearing from the FG in the 4k series sometimes, which sucks. Also sometimes it kind of breaks. And games will need to be restrarted, cause the fps drops and will not go back up

unkempt geyser
#

This game uses almost no CPU...pretty sure you could run this game on a phone processor.

waxen saffron
#

than i ahve no idea why my cpu rocks 100% on specific cores for this game 😄

unkempt geyser
#

my cpu doesnt go above 15% for this game. But if it isnt all cores, then that doesnt matter. I wouldnt pay attention to specific thread utilization across your cpu.

waxen saffron
#

wait i just realised i can't enable the first setting you have, it's locked for me. it's on 2nd position for me

unkempt geyser
#

close the game out fully and then close nvidia and re-open Nvidia and see.

waxen saffron
#

Nope. Doesn't help. Restarting the system also doesn't work. Now I have a notification wasn't there before

unkempt geyser
#

yeah just wait for it to load

waxen saffron
#

Option is still disabled and not usable

unkempt geyser
#

close out of Nvidia and re-open

waxen saffron
#

i did

unkempt geyser
#

again, same thing happened to me and I just had to relaunch. That happens when you adjust your PhysX/Control Panel settings as it overrides Nvidia App stuff.

waxen saffron
#

hmm so after restarting the system, restarting the app, changing control panel. still the option is not available for me

#

but oh well. I get a good result already, so I'm not going to try to force anything else.

waxen saffron
#

Ah nvm I should have read the notification closer. it's only supported on 5k series and newer. Frame generation is possible on 4k but not with this specific setting. Smooth Motion is kind of like activating FG apparently.

unkempt geyser
#

Yeah Smooth motion does similar to what Frame Generation does as it just samples in made up frames to appear smoother but it isnt actual frames like frame gen provides.

brotha, thank you.

cant do any of this with 3090? 🙁

unkempt geyser

sadge

unkempt geyser
#

You can still try to mess with other settings though, doesnt hurt to test.

coral sand
#

cant even find it in nvidia app

unkempt geyser
#

you have to add it to your games list manually, since they dont use a normal launch parameter Nvidia doesnt recognize it.

waxen saffron
#

Yea like i described above, nvidia doesn't recognise the game automatically, add it by yourself. everything lower than 4k series doesn't have frame generation

merry ice
#

how about AMD ADRENALIN?

waxen saffron
#

@merry ice I guess there are similar ways to do this. Honestly just aks some AI how to replicate these steps with AMD. If you find something out and can verify it then I'd appreciate you posting it here. I'll add it to the OG post then

can anyone tell me how to display fps?

Anyone done any testing with the Xbox Rog ally x? Sits at like 30fps before lagg spikes and it doesn't make sense
