The only thing I'd add is that for aoe farming its thornlace + toothpick in arsenal. Eruption is way too good.

Why does the back want Honed(DEX/STR) Soft Embroidery? I don't see STR increasing my Critical Bonus at all. I was under the impression that the other main stats only affected weapons that had scaling for it? And the three weapons you listed are DEX, DEX/FAITH, DEX/FAITH. So wouldn't Graceful (DEX/FAITH) Soft Embroidery be the best for DPS? With an argument for Reinforced (100 Armor/4 VIT) being worth considering with the 50% armor buff from Toothpick passive?

Good catch, Ill make the adjustment now :) Faith would 100% help us more with crit chance and slight scaling on embers. Str was originally taken for crit damage not chance. But honestly its not worth what we could gain via faith. since once fully geared it pushes the build to the next damage number with embers

We dont have hard proof on which is better, but its safe to assume you want somewhat even arm pen to fervor right now. Ferv gives you the damage and pen takes away armour to let that build damage go through. If I had to take a guess, Ferv is slightly stronger in a pure dex build. But not taking pen with it would kill any impact it gives

The armor mitigation isn't flat though, is it? So the more arpen you have the higher it's value.

Flat arm pen would make it very broken vs low armour targets. % based pen makes it very good against high level targets. Just means it has less value in the open world but much more in instanced content, as we know bosses have much higher armour

My point was that armor and mitigation doesn't scale linearly. I.e. you get 20% mitigation per 1000 armor and 30% mitigation for 2000 armor. That's how it works in most games at least. So getting more arpen gets exponentially better, because the lower their armor the more mitigation they loose per point

This is true, but say a target has 500 armour and you get rid of 30% of it, you remove 150 armour, if they have 1500 armour and you remove 30% of that its 450 armour. Any armour removed from a high level target is worth.

Yeah I agree with this but I dont think theres going to be a world where you can get enough of a % to take them to low values. each armour pen point will be worth less the higher level you go, so that at 50 you cant just have 100% pen. this is also a trend in other games.

Right, but what this means is that if you start getting arpen - which we can't currently avoid - each consecutive point gets better and better. I don't know if FoK rune is additive or multiplicative but having 20% arpen on top of 35% sounds crazy good.

Yeah it adds, it removes a flat 20% which is why shred is the taken rune inside burst windows and it should be staggered over the two charges

So basically if you want fervor best to not get ANY arpen. Because on high armor getting something from 4000 to 3600 you gain pretty much nothing. Getting them to 2500-2800 though seem way more interesting.

Sorry I misspoke. Fervor is actually NOT bad if you can't avoid it because it scales linearly - you want to choose arpen over it but if you get fervor it's fine. Arpen however IS relatively speaking bad if you have little of it. For anyone reading this though: i am pulling numbers directly out of my ars 😄

You're welcome to test it and we can adjust if theres a clear difference. But testing a lot of combinations of stats, talents and gear I found this to be the most consistent way to play rogue

To summarise my point, it's this: if you agree that arpen doesn't scale linearly then you must choose it over fervor if possible, unless you think it's so fundamentally inferior that even with better scaling it's still bad. And i am not certain about any of those 2 points 😄

I think without having a true understanding of how much armour mobs have I think its absolutely impossible to determine arm pen to be purely superior

If mobs follow the same armour logic to players at each level bracket then 1.6k armour is 40% reduction

the full build is sat at almost 30% arm pen

This would be the mobs armour value

Taking armour off to get close to this value, you are left with around an 8% damage increase from that armour pen

the build gives us 8.9% fervor

This is incorrect, 1621 armour would then amount to 62.42% mit

The more you build the less it is worth as initially expected.

But its impossible to determine the stat is worse or better until we have exact datamined armour values from the mobs. but I did hear people saying most bosses have around 1.5k

I used the spear passive to increase my armour and check the scaling

Ok gemini did some calculation and fervor seems to indeed be better at least until 4-5k armor. Which basically means that arpen is sht overall. Best to avoid it whenever possible - 1 for 1 fervor wins. We are talking 1-2% difference but still. Worth noting that arpen doesnt work on poisons so the likely difference is even higher

I think true mix maxing involves different sets of gear. I think you'd get higher value from some +faith/magic pen gear options if you're using Thornlace+Toothpick, no?

Also, when is swirling embers ever a better choice over eruption? Seems like the weaker option.

For pure single target DPS, wouldn't a Cheese Moon in Arsenal be better than Thorn? You get +crit% and the Bone Throw adds another bleed that has synergies with Twinfangs+Talents?

Also, you mentioned a rogue channel. I don't see one, where is this located?

Talents don't impact bleeds, they only amplify poisons and auto attack effect applications For pure single target spear is used and not thorn as dagger damage is the primary damage and spear allows you to get damage from embers in a pretty afk way.

The reason i favour it over the green crit rings is purely because as there no crit damage increasing talents as rogue. So a crit is only 1.5x damage and the build has enough crit once pan is stacked to maintain anything that wants some crit, bloom duration, spear shield and daggers shiv. For that reason losing some crit chance in order to get arm pen is pretty worth it

The guide uses as many pure rogue items as possible and fills in the blanks with faith as embers and thorn scale with it mostly. Any other hybrid item wouldnt make sense since int would only help the middle talent tree branch. And nothing we do scales with strength in regards to the guides weapons, talents or skills.

If you are killing things like crab, ratsar, dungeons you can run a default dps build. Things like queen, lady etc you might want to run sustain st, or go all out sustain which would be running the thorn and spear aoe.

The only way youre allowed to skip sustain for pure dps is if you can stagger phases and essentially freeze the boss like ratsar, or on crab you can avoid all frontals and devour. So no damage is really taken.

Speaking from pushing high content in other mmos stat balance is always more beneficial than only using one stat. You are welcome to deviate from the items and gems listed though if that makes more sense and feels better gameplay wise for yourself. Until concrete numbers on boss armour its impossible to say how much armour pen we need. Or even if there is possibly a cap on it like other mmos. Where you can build over a certain % but everything after a point is nullified. Everything is speculation at the moment

Stat balance is not a goal in itself in any MMO I ever played. Usually there is a DPS model with stat weights and those stat weights usually don't change massively unless there is some kind of soft cap like hit cap for bosses. Not "oh, I got 1% crit yesterday, ima get another 1% hit now". Granted we don't know a lot about farever yet we do know how fervor and arpen scales: it's a simple math problem - arpen is a % of a %, fervor is a flat % dmg increase. With the way items are currently itemised fervor is better.

Legendary gear is only worth it if you’re playing a lot and you want to min/max, the damage boost is noticeable but expensive to upgrade for an item that will eventually be out scaled. Nobody knows when lvl cap will increase atm.

Anyone else running gear focusing on armour penetration. I currently am and it does make a difference over fervour and crit chance.

Gear is mostly Kabold faction cause the other factions don’t have the armor penetration stats.

Weapons: Ratsay dagger with Thor lace or Golcano spear.

I haven’t been able to figure out though if any of the stats that contribute to magic damage has any affect on poison damage via talent tree.

Poison itself scales on dex. Some of the talents for damage in the middle branch scale on int. And magic pen has effect on both. Just not currently enough to make it justified over traditional dex builds

But how on earth (tell me the optimal rotation) are you killing pre tidalwave crab and 2 phase rastar?

No worries hope youre having success with it.

Crab is alot easier to get a kill that speed, ratsar is alot more rng and hoping things go your way.

For crab you want to precast embers on the edge of his aggro radius and walk into the fight to save your shadowsteps and dashes. Start with knives to apply shred then do the default opener of gaping wound and some shivs to get the bleeds and poisons ticking and spend your first finisher with the combo points. Now we have 10 stacks pan for max crit on our cds and at this point make sure youre talented into death mark instead of smoke and have the rune to gain full combo points on activation and follow it with urge to kill and start spending finishers on cd and recast your fan shred. Maintain your dots and autos the whole time. Prio shadowsteps to dodge cleaves and if you dont have one use 1 dash while maintaining autos still. Tank the first hit of devour to refresh bleeds and spend your finisher if you can. And then dps from there until the tidal wave. He will begin to cast it and you can dps until after the cast bar. Should be dead by then if not sub 10%. Perform a shadowstep on the wave and finish before devour

Should only need a sharp whetstone and dex potion for it. Food not needed.

Rat is a similar concept but much more rng. He will never get more then 2 intermissions off but can be killed before the 2nd on the right run.

Ratsar is pretty similar in terms of rotation, but to maximize your dps you want to precast ember between each phase at 1.5s cast bar then start your auto and the final combo will start each phase perfectly timed, from there its honestly luck. Ive only managed it a few times. But i think with food buff too and some possible optimizations im testing it can become more consistant @brisk ether

Crit isnt needed too much, mainly because we get tons from the trinket slot. we still keep some crit on the rings, but also ignore a hell of a lot of armour making us much more consistant in damage

But just make sure that you use this as a guide and not a mandatory list. If something feels more fun to you, feel free to deviate a little bit

I do think Cheese Moon deserves a special mention as an Arsenal weapon. It adds a another bleed to buff our Twin Fangs, adds another 8% Crit, and also goves a heal every time we Crit which is usually a lot and enough to keep healthy in ST atleast.

Cheese Moon only adds 3% (epic) 4% (Legy) Critchance no? But toothpick performs much better if we compare Bonethrow vs Embers. Both attacks / dots are 8s but embers do roughly 2.5x the dmg and even extend 0.35s per crit for free. The hit from Bonethrow triggers Gaping Wound 1 time on a 50% chance, but even then the bonus dmg ist way behind toothpick. The heal on crit is nice ofc, but the shield also lets us facetank the most so mh ye. i played cheese mone myself for quite a time, but toothpick outperforms a lot imo.

I'll do some testing later today, but I think if the healing holds up, you could, on some bosses, drop smokebomb for deathmark for a little extra damage.

Main dps loss of cheese moon comes from it being strength and in this case the secondary stat is faith to help spear and thorn. So while you could theoretically use it as almost a solution to lazier sustain. I dont personally believe theres a case where you would use this over thorn, specifically in regards to how this build is statted

All three are good. I would try them all and see what feels the best. Thorn is the most forgiving impo when gearing, but others prefer the afk sustain from moon in this case. Pick is overall the best choice.. ultimately though you can clear anything with any of them in arsenal. Just depends what feels best for you to use

bee/rat are both good shoulders just depends where your stats land and what feels better to you. I prefer running rat shoulders with pure fervor neck to make up has felt the best for me and has provided me with my fastest ratsar kill

Are we really sure that flaming weapon is bis?
I mean i went in and killed ratsar 10 times.
31s-34s kills.
13000 dmg.
The flaming weapon is doing either 0% or 1% dmg overall.
The example in the picture is showing 53 dmg total in that fight.

Yeah tbh. From what I’ve been seeing recently (thanks all rogues chipping in and sharing) seems devote may be the way to go. At least now they were clearing stuff at record speed (for rogue).

I didnt know previously that Fervor increased Cheesebane damage, but in hindsight ig that makes sense. Also boss magic armor does reduce flaming dmg significantly it seems, something i mistakenly didn’t realize prior or failed to track without the tools.

May be a guide update though i still believe they are very minute in difference; i think devote has the edge for providing more dmg

I think at 18 it has the same stats as a level 20 chest. There no way outside of trading with someone who speedhacked into the dungeon to get one at level 20 though. For that reason i havent included it here. Im pretty sure it would be better but only by a very small margin. Its up to the player if they deem it worth farming or not over standard items. To get it that level I think only gruffy would drop it.

Nah, you build 5 - 6 and squeeze as many as you can in at full power. I can usually manage 5 - 6 in the window before the boss either phases or the buff runs out.

If running 10% stacks, and killing spree spam off CD and weave in other skills in between during Urge.

You can get up to 10 stacks if things line up perfectly but otherwise usually 8-9 before it falls off with most finishers being 2-3 CP

i thought exact the same, since auto crit got nerfed from 15 to 10 and critpoison got buffed and the +10/20% poison dmg scales now even better with the poison dex buff itself. But it might be just better in some longer fights we dont have atm anyways? Thats why ross had still better results with crit, just more burst kinda.

Yeah, most likely. That’s really been the main issue is fights end so quickly. Ultimately none of this really matters and I wish more would see that. This is only lvl 20 content.. real balance should be done at max (50).

But I do agree that things they’re way over tuned should be brought back a little (warriors for example).

Not sure about this by the way. This assumes you can stack poisons to 7 and it's already hard, going to be even harder without infusion.

Really depends. Everyone is balancing off how fast they can kill ratsar. But thats not exactly a good benchmark since its nowhere near a patchwerk fight. There are splits in buffs, splits in dps, lost time in cds. So balancing a build or talents around that would be dishonest. There may be a better ratsar murdering build, but I aim for it to be more standardized. Crab would be closer to a perfect boss for testing damage.

In a none invuln boss, poisons will perform alot better.

I didn't farm a lot of bosses but most bosses i know have a 10s non-dps window where poisons fall off. Bee is only one you coming to mind where you can dps just standing in their sht. But thats hardly an intended way to do it.

Yeah but none are as frequent as ratsar. Phase 1 crab has 1 devour phase but you can even tank a few hits to reapply

Toothpick and thorn Arsenal; thorn Arsenal will keep you alive through anything. Toothpick mainhand with it makes you pretty much unkillable

Right tree has some sustain, but I dunno if it compares to the weapons. Left tree would be cool if the final capstone actually worked properly
