I made a book. It was on the bottom-left shelf on the bench. I went back and picked it up, and it starts the creation process all over again, and I can back out of it. You have to confirm through all the steps. As seen in the picture, the book is now stuck floating above the desk.

The problem was getting stuck with the first book and apparently making several additional copies of it while stuck, as seen after a save and reload. New issue. How do I get rid of all of the duplicates?

Selecting an existing book loads it like a new one, and you can create a new title over it as I did here:
I'll note that I currently do not have any available licenses and maybe that is jamming things up.

Well, #3 is easy and is just a missing localization key, that can be sorted pretty easily. You should be able to edit the duplicates to make new books without issue. I'll have to look into what might be breaking that would cause it to float at the end like that as we didn't see it in editor

Selecting a dupe on the shelf lets you overwrite it and create a new book.
No way seen to recycle. No way to delete from this interface at the moment. Also, each copy of the same custom book shows up as a separate license on the license tab.
That cloning book bug also bypasses the cost of making new books, from the looks of it.
...and just crashed the game trying to save to my backup save (slot 2, after saving to slot 1). Did reload from the autosave fine, and I was able to save to slot 2 after that.

oh that was fixed.. make sure you disconnect steam and reconnect for the updated version.... sadly you will have to alt f4 out of the game

A few other bugs/missing features for the workshop books. Red box - they lack a Description/Back Cover text. Blue arrow - the orientation of the cover icon does not match the same direction as the ones for all the other books in the store, as seen in the picture.
With the Special books, I made one, got the license, bought two boxes, went to place them on the shelf, and got a flashed window saying error...contact developers, and now the box is stuck in my hands with no way to drop, and I am able to interact with the game like the box is not there.

Do these Special books go on regular shelves or on the single book display shelves? I assume the singles, but there needs to be a check to make sure they don't break the game in other shelving units.

I get an error trying to place it on a corner shelf unit.
Plus, the box vanishes and is lost after a restart.
They ONLY get placed on a 15-book shelf. The code needs additional checks to deny placement on the other shelf types.

How does the workbench recycle work? I have not seen any interaction for it.

Recycle fails on any workbench-created book but works for rare books from the game. The tooltip dialog does not show the correct price or the additional price for recycling.

Also, recycling the special WW3 book made the tag for my workbench special book vanish, and it does not reappear if I pull the books off the shelf and put them back.

Nah, we'll never curse people for helping find things. The corner bookshelf should be pretty easy to fix up either by allowing placement or making sure the code doesn't break (which has some protections already but got past those). The label disappearing is a little more weird that we'll have to look into. Those shouldn't change unless the items of that shelf change

Also, having experienced the same "clicking on the book forces you into the interface, and it just creates a duplicate of the book" the other issue is that I fed a bunch of rares into making the first one, and the duplicates are baseline value, so I not only want to be able to get rid of the duplicates, I want to fully scrap them so I can properly increase the market price on those slots.

It did after reloading. It failed to add a label when reloading the shelf. I will try again this evening and see if it is still broken and then post a save file.

Being on a new day or two now, placing the books now pops the tags back up. My reloads before were on the same day, I'm pretty sure. If it glitches again, I'll grab a save for you.

Spoke too soon. Ended my day and just reloaded the game, and now the shelves are empty.

All other books licensed and purchased are still on the shelves. So it's something about that class of book. Saves coming.

Somehow, ending the day made them vanish. I added more in and will see if it vanishes or crashes when playing the next day this weekend. If something else happens, I'll let you know.

Thank you! A quick look at the log and some of the IDs for your books seem to be getting reset. I'm not sure if that's the issue. Which save should I be looking at?

I have another Save 3 right now with the shelves loaded if you want to run the day and see if they vanish like they just did for me?

From the earlier saves it is the empty shelves seen in the 8:22pm image above.
New bug the past couple of days is this weird gloss on everything outside when the sun goes down.

@grave blade - I think I have it figured out. Loading the game and using Continue makes my special books disappear from the shelf. If I load from one of the save slots, they are there.

Wait. Continue is autosave I think? Maybe not? This is Zach territory. Are you sure the game autosaved your last changes? Like are you sure it didn't save before you placed them on the shelf?

It looked like the autosave was late after cashing out for the day. When I load from the slots and save back, the autosave slot is not updating to reflect my last save point. I will grab a screen after dinner.

Autosave doesn't update when you save. It only saves at the end of the day and every x minutes which is set in the settings (default 10)
