#Which shop makes the most money?

I read a message where a dev said to someone that if they wanted to know which shop makes the most money, just ask and someone would answer. Couldn't find any other reference after that though. I have a couple of questions.

  1. Which shop makes the most money?

  2. Example, 1 bookshelf with 2 shelves of Marrie on top and 2 of That on bottom. If I have 11 Marrie on each shelf rather than full stock of 15, will customers be less inclined to buy multiple copies the next day or it doesn't matter?

  3. Does more books mean more sales, like an entire shelf of every license owned will lead to more sales rather than having half and half shelves of licenses? Or is it just based on expansion and number of employees?

  4. Do decorations have any bearing on profit or number of customers without using legendary books? Plants, chairs, paintings etc?

Thanks!

Hello Reaper, I will try to answer your question but there are so many variables..

just some things I have noticed while playing.

Every expansion brings in more customers.
The faster you get customers out of your store, the more can come in, so the fastest cashier is needed, or yourself at the start because you can be so much faster.
More variety of books do not nessacarily mean more money.
That said, now we have the recomendation mechanic, to me it adds alot more money if you are running around doing that all day, so different genre are needed for that.
Just because one customer 'thumbs down' a price, does not mean the next person wont buy it.
In my Japan store, the first day I run it after logging in, people dont like some of my prices but the next day and every other consecutive day noone complains.

At one point i set up a whole wall of 4 bookshelves and put the same book in all of them...the customer would complain at the first shelf but then go 2 shelves over and buy that same book without a problems...

With the decor, I think the chairs make a difference to help with waiting.. you will need to read the description to tell you exactly what it does. As for the other decor I do not know.

I also try and get the best passive income from my other stores as possible..
I am still testing which i will be making my main store between Japan and Paris,
Just because Paris is bigger doesnt mean its better imo.

You have helped, and I certainly appreciate you taking the time to write a detailed answer.

How high are you pushing your prices above market value? I have been raising everything 20% above except for rare books which I do about a 35% raise on. I rarely get thumbs down on rares and never on anything else.

I just have 2 shelves of every book I have licensed and at least two licenses for every genre. All comics, manga, candy, board games and bookmarks. With a manager and 2 cashiers. All shops following that rule of thumb. Lyon is fully expanded, Tokyo has the first floor plus the stairs open, and Paris has 3 squares left minus the storage spaces. I usually run Paris recommending books and doing check outs, while I have 1 employee cashiering and another stocking.

Regarding passive income. Mine is pretty inconsistent. Like $1,600 one day $2,500 the next without me changing anything. Not sure why there is such a big gap. Legendary books in passive stores do get the bonuses right?

no the legendarys in passive stores do not.. you need them in the store you are running... i also run 2 shelves of everything... i do not sell manga or comics... have just readded candy and bookmarks to paris tho... normally 20% on normal books , and my prices i run for rares is pinned in the gen-chat

Thanks Geo! A very small note is sometimes more book variety will net more money. In the current version if you only have one book type the customer should not go to other shelves with the same type. So, if they are still thinking about buying more but they already looked at all the books you have they'll check out. In that case you want more variety.
