In my own opinion (please don’t flame me, it’s just my opinion) the game still feels underwhelming, and I think more continuity with a 4th age & more variability, maybe with some DLC might make this game feel more complete.
It does feel underwhelming because the previous game had the atomic age, in the base game.
This is coming from someone who purchased founders edition, I’m not a hater, I love Civ games but this one is not a top 3 for me

No Modern is Napoleonic/late colonial, World War One and World War Two. An Atomic age would be the Cold War, The war on terror and dawn of the internet, then the future. As the Atomic, information, and Future eras from Civ 6 are the only time periods from older games not in Civ 7

The launch pads of the late modern era would be upgradable into full on space ports. Honestly the modern age feels like an abrupt stop before the climax of the future and Cold War, but I think I know what you mean. The pacing of the late game is very likely the reason we haven’t seen it yet however, the lack of the Cold War especially makes me think we’re 100% eventually going to get a 4th age. They need to fix the base game first.

we should have the information age in a DLC or expansion asap. within that age we should have modern ideologies or whatever the political mechanic should there be. more importantly, we should get political organizations or pacts like UN, NATO, BRICS, EU, etc with different layers of bonuses to member civs. science legacy should probably be missions like finding a black hole, sending probe to mars, cure for cancer and things like that or maybe something cleverer. and yeah we shall have cyberhackers, internet-related gigs in this age. drones shall be busted, jet fighters, radars, ballistic missiles, iron domes should be there. climate change and global disorder, terrorism, anarchy mechanics can be added as plagues of information era. having your TV turned for a few hours will give you a nice idea about how the information age can be designed.
