Shouldn't Red ("beach") tiles be treated the same way Green ("beach") tiles? This would help to place some unique buildings for some Civs that need this as a requirement and also if for example you have somewhere in the middle of your empire a city with a Navigable river the tiles that are next to this navigable river should be equal to the tiles near the Coast at least it should be enough for the requirements of some buildings, no?
#Navigable Rivers' nearby land tiles do not count the same way that land tiles next to Coast tiles

I’ve read this like 4 times and I’m still not sure what it’s trying to say… are you saying you want coastal tiles, and land tiles adjacent navigable rivers to be treated the same in the mechanics of the game?
Yeah I think you got this. Maybe it would make more sense.
Coastal tile is a land tile that is directly adjacent to one or more Coast or Lake tiles. Maybe a good idea to add to this definition Navigable Rivers as well.

Freshwater is different from salt water
Flowing is different from still or ocean
Lake is also freshwater but this doesn't mean that it is not part of the Coastal tile definition, no?
"Fresh water is different from salt water", And? It is still included into Coastal tile definition and counts as coastal tile. "Flowing is different from still or ocean", And? It is still included into Coastal tile definition, therefore I do not see any reason not to include Navigable River into this definition as well as it makes game mechanic more flexible, at least.
I don't understand what problem this is trying to solve?
i can't reply because of cooldown (please lord can they change this?!). I'm not trying to be facetious i'm just wondering what examples of in game issues OP is referring to that this change would help with?
I think op would like inland river tiles to match coastal tiles in terms of their use
But river tiles do have different uses already - so not sure why
Too much flexibility takes away a element of placing cities - you should have to pick between the two , if you can build anything anywhere it’s too much freedom imo.
btw the game uses Coast to mean the shallow water just off shore, and coastal wonders require land adjacent to Coast. other things require tiles adjacent to Navigable Rivers. the wonders are already specific about what they require, and it's not a particular kind of land, it's specifically the adjacency to Coast. they have the flexibility to require adjacency to Coast or Navigable River for cases where it makes sense (like food & gold buildings). thus this is a design decision, not an oversight
