Just as the title says, whose bright idea was it to NOT release a patch including the One More Turn Option before releasing paid DLC?

Firaxis better shape up, because they are very close to being labelled the new EA, and we all know how close to bankruptcy those clowns are.

Hm, it was just the process of their development ;op

If that is the case, then the quality of their new process of development has declined exceedingly.

There is good reason why the game's rating on Steam is currently 50% and on the decline.

Firaxis needs to fix it before they release more paid content, because they are coming off as microtransactional, which is so sinful in modern gaming, that it's been known to kill off whole gaming franchises.

I'm not sure what guys thought it was so good back in the days =p , to be honest, Firaxis been selling DLC's since quite a while already , its funny how people thinks, they should decide of the companies model they use , no matter the model, every company have to choose 1 , and none is perfect ever 🙂

Well, I guess, perception is different, because, i havent seen that clogged toilet in the dlc, but again everything is subjective 😄

junior echo
#

And, for what its worth, the one more turn button is not at all what you overexaggerating to be a massive smelly toilet. Overembellishing for effect isnt helpful in proving your point

Sure, there are some kinks to work out in the line, but theyve already addressed that theyre working on the ones that the community has repeatedly asked for, which is a great sign

#

Including, ironically, the topic of this thread

timid sparrow
junior echo
#

No, this is factually incorrect as it relates to this topic. They have addressed one more turn, and other things like auto explore for scouts and UI fixes

topaz needle
#

What the hell, Brand damaging? If the core game would'nt be good, now it could damage the brand, Addressing a quick roadmap, and saying already when they plan to add one more turn, and its gonna be in less than 2 months after release, so come on, its quite fast

scarlet needle
#

With my friend we have bought the game to play infinite games, the fact that Firaxis have not included the one more turn button make us uninstall the game, the current game is not fun, it is only made for tryhard players

junior echo
#

Staying up to date with their announcements and communications is important because they have quite literally addressed this

topaz needle
#

https://prnt.sc/-3Z_BtLHY6t4 , Honestly, Firaxis is very communicative 🙂 , Wether the order of their priorities are not perfectly aligned with your own priorities is more of a "YOU" issue , 😮

timid sparrow
# junior echo No, this is factually incorrect as it relates to this topic. They *have* address...

Well the One More Turn Button still isn't implemented.

To "address" something means to "fix it", and if it's not implemented, then it's not "fixed", right now all we have are delayed promises which upsets enough of the community to give the game a very bad rating on Steam.

My main and fundamental point, is that it is crass and brand damaging for a gaming franchise known for providing good quality gaming, to release unfinished and underdeveloped games that they claim are supposed to be the latest (and therefore best representation thus far) of the gaming traditions they have provided, especially when further funds are being asked via paid extra content without those core issues being fixed first.

The proper thing to have done, was delay the DLC release and fast track the bug fixes.

junior echo
#

Personally I think this is completely overdramatic, and even if I give you some credit for this (which I cant, because they have already said theyre working on it,) its hardly something that would damage their brand

topaz needle
#

I gotta love people, that have no clues how business works, and acts like they know how they should do everything 🙂 You're not CEO buddy, Why dont you just embrace your role of being just a "Player"/Game Owner, Its all you are 🙂

junior echo
#

The game as a whole was a relatively complete/functional product that was just missing some polish, for most people you can play the game in its entirety which is more of what is important on release

#

And as I said earlier, to already be taking community feedback and working on fixes for it in the first month of release is a very good sign for the company

topaz needle
#

In the end, You will get one more turn, Why cant you just wait for it? What you say, is absolutely a lie, You'd wait for the game to be released, to include one more turn, While you cant even wait for One more Turn , Its gonna be ready, When its gonna be ready , You have zero control over that , One More Turn ( Is a Feature ) Its not 99% of the game

junior echo
#

Some companies ignore their playerbases for years

timid sparrow
# junior echo Personally I think this is completely overdramatic, and even if I give you some ...

The 50% Steam approval of their game when compared to their touted 4.5 out of 5 rating from some random gaming critiques damages their brand.

The fact that myriads of people paid hundreds of dollars only for advanced access, only to ask for a refund is bad for their brand.

And the fact that traditional strategy gamers like myself who have used Civ to relax for years, now can't do so for their latest apparently "best release yet" for the foreseeable future due to development issues, is also very damaging to their brand.

junior echo
#

Im sure you can use this game to relax without a one more turn button XD

topaz needle
#

Lol, Negative Reviewing Seems to be a Trend these days :p

timid sparrow
topaz needle
#

Cause you clearly know what is a finished game 🙂 You probably released many games yourself, right? ;o

junior echo
#

hey, lets keep this civil

#

its okay to have a discussion and disagree, lets not start making it personal

timid sparrow
topaz needle
#

I'm over 100 hours played, and continuing to play , so yeah, the game's playable 😄

oblique locust
#

Are there actual Civ/2k reps here?

junior echo
#

I tend to agree, I think the game is perfectly playable/enjoyable

scarlet needle
junior echo
#

there are some features Id like or things I would change, but the game is playable and fun

timid sparrow
topaz needle
#

You can, and there's probably all the reviews that you are bombing , and on the other side, you have people that appreciates/likes what they got from the game so far 🙂 with in mind, that it will keep improving , Anyway, Gonna go back to playing 😄 ( They offer a product, You have the choice to buy it or not )

junior echo
#

The thing is, you dont have to pay for anything else

#

If you know theyre not done with it, simply dont buy extra content until theyve polished it enough for your liking

oblique locust
#

Just saying, at launch, I set my usual settings for all the Civs I've played, and my Marathon game ended after 10 hours.

scarlet needle
timid sparrow
junior echo
#

Sure, and I know more people who have bought it and love it despite it not having one more turn

#

Anecdotal evidence isnt reliable or truth

I’d appreciate seeing certain fixes sooner, but I don’t think it’s that deep. The game can last long enough as it is and the whole principle of this game is to encourage players to try new civ/leader combinations and play more matches to completion. A new turn button isn’t a hill to die on when it’s already been promised.

topaz needle
#

A game missing a few features is'nt "Unfinished" , Jeebus 😮 , They have chose to focus on different aspects/elements for their new game, thats all

junior echo
timid sparrow
topaz needle
#

And 50% are happy, Looks like we're in the middle 😄 , Some games have 90% positive reviews for a 50H Campaign mode , Civ is a potentially 2K hours type of game 🙂 , not the same category if u ask me , Just like that, how many hours played of Civ 7 you have?

timid sparrow
topaz needle
#

I think you give too much importance to ratings , You have a lot of non-fan of the genre, that buys every new game, and its just not a type of game, that they actually like , Cause nowadays, every big game, that gets released, usually gets a lot of publicity/viewership, because of the Era of the Streamers

wispy ivy
junior echo
#

Its pretty common knowledge civ games need time to cook to reach their full potential

#

That has not changed across every single iteration

#

Expecting anything different for this one is, in my opinion, pretty silly

timid sparrow
topaz needle
#

Maybe its ruining the brand for you, but it doesnt for me 😮

Buddy, you are literally gonna get exactly the feature that you want, in 2 month ish , You seriously cannot wait that long? They "Firaxis" As a Company certainly have to focus on their priorities, and Of course, for a company, generating revenues will often be at the top of most company priorities 🙂 , I swear , People have no clue how a business work ;p ( If you think the main goal of Firaxis is to entertain you for the cheapest possible for you, you're wrong ) Their main goal, is to entertain you at a certain cost, while making sure, they are generating profits ( like every damn company in this world )

junior echo
#

It definitely is not, but this conversation as a whole is deviating from the original feedback and I think its time we either get back to the original point or close out the convo

#

responding to gorgon ^

timid sparrow
# topaz needle Buddy, you are literally gonna get exactly the feature that you want, in 2 month...

To do that, they need to literally have a qualitative game ready to be played.

I don't think you understand the serious ramifications this has on their brand as a supposed "good" gaming company.

If EA faces decline despite literally giving the world The Sims, and SimCity, then how tenous do you think Firaxis is when they seemingly have just followed the route of EA, where a release now fix later mentality has developed?

junior echo
#

Im sure this topic isnt going to be the downfall of their company friend

wispy ivy
timid sparrow
# junior echo Im sure this topic isnt going to be the downfall of their company friend

Their company lives and breathes Civilization, it's like their thing.

If they don't get their act together, then that's another gaming company that used to make.good games gone, and the future of the Civilization franchise ends with 7.

I very much would like to see more iterations, but this release will be remembered, just as I remember the disaster that was Paradox's EUIV DLC "Leviathan", to this day that DLC has Overwhelmingly negative reviews, you wanna know why?

Because people who have already left a review are its core player base and the march of time will not fix that.

People rarely change their reviews, which directly affect sales and the future going concern of companies.

So Firaxis really needs to shape up.

topaz needle
#

You seem too care too much about a purpose, that you should'nt care that much about 😮 Are you an AI? lol , The Future Of A Gaming Studio, What does that imply in your life? Not much

timid sparrow
topaz needle
#

You're overdramatizing all this quite a lot! For only 200$ , but then its your choice, and you do what you want

timid sparrow
wispy ivy

Hey someone have to give attention for the AI, for the AI to supposedly learn you know 😄 It was just a legitimate question, Your tone quite changed with the question, Thats wildly interesting ( and obviously Off-topic )

junior echo

including you exxy

#

if we cant keep the conversation on topic and respectful the thread will be closed

wispy ivy
timid sparrow
# wispy ivy Yea id agree. But i also think companies are aware of situations like Battlefron...

Those games seem to be at best an exception to the rules, and at worst temporarily popular due to some cultural phenomenon or because there's no better alternative that is widely accepted to be better in quality to compete.

Either way, gaming companies who use that formula often lose, and for a gaming company as trustworthy and beloved as Firaxis, this current game is an enormous disappointment.

wispy ivy
junior echo
#

This game is not an enormous disappointment my friend, and if all it took was small things like one more turn not being included to make it so, I fear your expectations may have been too high

timid sparrow
junior echo
#

Somebody who realizes that a QOL feature like that is not what the entire life of a game hinges upon

#

In any case, I just wanted to chime in on this one and share my thoughts on it, make sure yall keep it nice in here

timid sparrow
cursive sable
timid sparrow
# cursive sable I find funny how some people say this game is only for tryhards yet others won't...

A good game is capable of being both competitive and casual depending upon the taste of the individual player.

Civ generally has gotten it right before.

The fundamental issue right now is that the game is clearly unfinished upon release.

For goodness sake you STILL can't change the name of your city, like these people are releasing paid DLC, while I can't rename my city to "Denouncing Firaxis", it's unacceptable.
