This is extremely stupid.

Did you have enough fleet commanders?
all naval units are deleted, if you don't have any fleet commanders, regardless of civ

I had 3 fleet commanders

Ok well I dunno about deleting your whole navy. But it’s a new concept in the game that when you change ages you keep just enough units that you have cities.

I know the game deletes extra units. UNLESS you build commanders to store the rest. I had 3 fleet commanders. Plus they were all stacked in the commanders at the end of the age.

Well perhaps because you switched to a CIV with unique naval units they couldn’t “convert” to the chola naval unit

Theres no reason my navy should be gone other than bad game design

But did your friend have more coastal cities than you?

north mantle
#

How many coastal cities did you have and how many boats?

fringe fiber

1.) Coastal cities shouldnt affect your navy’s existence
2.) I had 8 coastal cities and 12 Kalams.
3.) As I said earlier, I entered the modern age with none of my boats

But I don’t know your situation well enough so maybe it doesn’t

I’m not making any excuses for it, I’m fully aware this is not a perfect game but I’m patiently waiting for it to get better. And I don’t know if you’re the only one having this issue so idk if it’s poor game design or just a bug

Did you use those commanders at all? I noticed the ones I recently built acted like they didn't exist and all their troops were deleted.

All of them had multiple upgrades. The Chola fleet commander is not to be ignored.

Like i said, theres no explanation for what happened other than terrible game design and/or oversight from the devs. I made a post about it to highlight this issue, not to seek for some kind of way in which i made a mistake. There was no mistake on my end. There is no excuse on their end. This is just stupid

Yea my guess is that because the Chola have a unique naval unit, it doesnt transfer over to the next age as the ship of the line. As i said, my friend kept his entire navy and i lost mine. In other words, my friend functioned like the control group in that game, with regular galleons at the end, and i functioned like the test group with kalams at the end. He kept his boats. I lost mine. That doesnt sound like a bug. That sounds like the Chola just get screwed out of theri entire navy once exploration age ends.

Interesting! Create a bug report if you can. Makes no sense otherwise 🙂

It’s very clearly an edge case where the game doesn’t know how to upgrade the units properly so it deletes them. Not sure why OP getting grilled like this. It’s an important thing that needs fixing.

It needs to be reported in #civ7-bug-reports-and-help

#

This is clearly a bug, and an annoying one at that 🙂

Cos either the transition didn't work, or the Kalams aren't working properly.

#

Something ain't right 🙂

I don't see it being a game decision by design tbh.

Isnt that what this server is for? Feedback about things that happen in game? I imagine the bug report side of their office is flooded with more reports than are in this server

The feedback section isn't for bugs though, support is a different team that deals with that stuff

And as said, this sounds like a bad bug 🙂
