The game just screwed me by placing a fleet commander with 4 ships in a lake after an age transition, possibly because the lake is large enough that there's a single tile of open ocean in the middle of it. I would like to reload one of my autosaves from the end of the previous age, so I can try moving the ships to one of my other cities, so they'll hopefully stay there. However, all of my autosaves are gone.
#Why are autosaves deleted after an age transition?

So you cant xp farm. Many design choices were done in order to protect the progression ssystem. Its all very VERY dumb
Did we get a confirmation this wasn't a bug?
If you have a fishing quay or something in said lake boats can spawn there. Don't place those buildings in a lake?
haha no i meant the autosaves being deleted at age transition 🙂
Oh yeah no that's working as intended although may change
Everyone's auto saves are deleted on age transition
So I may be wrong, but I think they are actually moved to a new folder
So in theory you could move them back to access them again @slim siren
You realize you're basically saying here to never conquer AI settlements on a lake, right?
Oh, hey, you're actually right about that. They're in a folder called "prev" in the save folder.
I've finished the game at this point, so I won't be going back to the save, but now I know for the future. Thanks! 🙂
No problem!
Come to think of it, didn't Civ 5 or 6 have an option in the "Load Game" menu to show older autosaves? Like a checkbox you could tick, and it would show you previous autosaves? I don't understand why they got rid of that in Civ 7.
Well it might be something they change from this feedback
