#Traders feel useless due to war

Anything close to you, is guaranteed to almost turn into wars 😮
Friedrich just made peace with me, and he sent a trader to me, a bit funny ;o
Yeah, I dont see how i could sustain trade myself, with my actual game
I could actually sent one back to friedrich, can u trade with ur own cities?
I dont even know what u get from a trade, besides the +10 relation
Oh yeah, I was always doing domestic trades in civ 6 😄
What else do you get from a trade with another city? you probably get something no?
Ouchie, Yeah
Hm, Trade feels damn useful... I can get ressources, that belongs to other civs, its nice haha
In fairness to this, the towns mechanic kinda took over the role of domestic trade routes. Any town not on "growing town" setting is automatically shipping its excess food to your other towns, and every town is converting its hammers into gold for you to use (usually elsewhere). So, domestic trade routes would be kinda redundant to that.
I miss the mechanic too, but I can at least see why they dropped it fairly well.
Then play as prussia lol
Tbh this depends in games. I’ve had quite a few peaceful games on diety or at least games where i can get an ally to trade with. Domestic trade would be interesting I guess but then again you can just build units other than merchants.
Personally, I'd rather see traders from cancelled trade routes reappear in my city so I can redirect them elsewhere.
Actually trade during war should be very profitable. Maybe the developers should include a risk of loss and gain.
Perhaps some combination of those ideas (prompt on war to call back all your traders, if you decline then maybe some bonus gold but knowledge that your traders will spend some of their time in hostile areas and might be pillaged? If accepted, they all turn around and start walking home - more likely to escape and make it back?)
And an ability to recall specific traders (low value route or close to combat areas, expected to be pillaged by passing units)?
But I'm not sure if this becomes too micromanage-y...
agreed. depends on a players focus.
Merchants are much cheaper in 7. I think it’s fine if they’re less impactful than they were in 6. Not all gameplay mechanics need to be equally important, some can just be minor buffs. But I do think you should get the unit back if they declare war on you.
Well, Interesting, if u have a suzerain, you can trade with him, its a relatively safe/good trade 🙂
