Here's the lil story I gave to the piece heh :>
this is so good

probably unintentional, but I love the color palettes for some of the last panels of the comic
The panel with the poured-out bottle is dominated by purple tones/warm colors, and the panel with the ruined cigarette is dominated by blue tones/cool colors—implying that they’re each others’ reason for stopping 🥹
also, I personally like interpreting the panels where Robert and Courtney are each surrounded by an almost monochrome palette of their own respective colors as a way of representing that theyre stuck in their own heads, and the unification/mixture of those palettes at the end of the comic visually conveys the peace that they then feel :-)
Heh, you're actually spot on! Everything that you just mentioned was purely intentional. The color theory was the biggest priority when planning this piece.
The last panel is important to bring back the normal color palette because, like you said, represents their conflicted minds clearing out when they have the comfort of having each other. And expanding on the ideas of what I said on the little piece of story I wrote: They're still troubled minds and individuals, but that's exactly why they resonate with each other, they're essentially two sides of the same coin - some random "normal" dudes in a world full of superpowered beings, and they understand the struggles of having to live through your unfortunate circumstances in such scenario, even if it feels like the world is conspiring against you.
Maybe they don't fix their issues right away, but sometimes the mere thought of having someone to be there with you and face those issues together is more than enough. That's exactly what I wanted to represent with this piece, hope you liked it! :>
WOW lmao I'm happy to hear I didn't sound like i was grasping at straws there!
it's a GORGEOUS comic, both compositionally and from a story perspective. it's just really nice to look at
