#Unable to save and apply design settings in live mode

Hi there,

I set my design customizations in "https://app.dodopayments.com/settings?tab=design" for test mode and I can successfully see the changes in both checkout and customer portal.

However, when I try to save this settings (manually re-edited color-by-color and option-by-option) in live mode for the same brand, I get the attached message.

In the dashboard the changes are persisted (if I hard refresh or re-open the design settings for the live mode I can see my settings) but the checkout is not getting the changes in production, I still see the default theme.

This usually comes down to environment + caching mismatches. Try this:

  • Confirm environment

    • Live checkout must use live API key + live product/price IDs
    • If you’re using any test IDs, it will fallback to default theme
  • Hard cache issue (very common)

    • Open checkout in incognito or clear cache
    • If using embedded checkout, reload the page fully
  • Brand mismatch

    • Ensure the same brand is selected in live mode as the one you edited
    • Design settings are brand-scoped per environment
  • Propagation delay

    • Changes can take ~1–2 minutes to reflect in live
  • Embedded checkout

    • If you pass custom config in code, it can override dashboard design

If all of that checks out, the “save error but persists” behavior isn’t expected—worth reporting to support with:

  • brand ID
  • checkout link
  • screenshot of the error

That’ll help them trace it quickly.
