Dodo team, there is a lot of confusion around billing and taxes in DODO. one time payment is billed with DODO's bangalore entitiy and subscriptions are billed against DODO's US entity. Out customers are asking for invoice in INR because they are paying in INR but seeing the invoice in USD. We want to understand the details of this. We have been asking for ann onboarding call for so long. there has been no response around it. I wonder how do you handle your customers. Is it so difficult to get on a call with your customers at a scheduled time. Tell us what is the right way to do this?

I get the frustration—there are two separate issues here:

1. Entity + invoice currency

  • Dodo uses different billing entities depending on product flow (e.g. subscriptions vs one-time).
  • Invoice currency is tied to the billing entity, not just the payment currency.
  • So even if a customer pays in INR, invoices can still be issued in USD if routed via the US entity.
  • INR invoicing is only possible when the transaction is processed via the India entity.

2. What you can do

  • If INR invoices are required → you’ll need to ensure payments are routed through the India (Bangalore) entity.
  • Avoid mixing one-time + subscription flows if consistent invoicing is important.
  • Confirm with support which product setup maps to which entity before going live.

3. Onboarding / call delay

  • This isn’t expected behavior.
  • Best path: raise a support ticket or request via your dashboard/account email and explicitly ask for:
    • “entity mapping clarification”
    • “INR invoice requirement”
    • “onboarding call scheduling”

If you want, share your exact integration setup (one-time vs subscription, currency config), and I can point out what’s causing the split.

Hey @tepid aurora @languid harbor ,

For one-time payments, these are currently processed via our Indian entity, while subscriptions are handled through our US entity. That’s the existing flow as of now.

That said, we understand the need for a more localized experience, and we’ve already passed this internally, we’re actively working towards enabling a setup where customers can pay in INR as well.

If you’d like help with onboarding, just let me know a convenient time for you. We can schedule a session on Monday.

what is the roadmap timeline for getting this onboarded to DODO. Because that will decide wether we stay on DODO or quit. Currently it is not working for us. We will get away from DODO if you cnnot give us invoices in local currency (at least for Inidia) as of noe

Hey @tepid aurora completely understand your use case around invoices for your customers, and why this is important.

This is already on our roadmap, I don’t want to commit to an exact timeline just yet. We’ll be sharing updates via our changelog as soon as there’s progress.

In the meantime, for INR subscription-based invoicing, the most reliable approach would be to use a local payment processor as a temporary workaround. If you’re operating internationally, you can continue using Dodo Payments alongside that setup.

Happy to help you figure out the best interim flow based on how you’re currently set up.
