#Subscription upgrade difference + tax question
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Short answer: No — upgrades aren’t taxed as a simple “₹50 + 18%”.
What’s happening:
- Dodo calculates upgrade charges pre‑tax, based on the proration mode used.
- GST is applied on the final charge amount, not on your mental “plan difference”.
- If this is mid‑cycle, the amount is usually prorated, not the full ₹50.
- Rounding (paise → INR) and inclusive/exclusive tax pricing can also shift totals.
Common cases:
difference_immediately→ charges price difference, then adds GST.prorated_immediately→ charges time‑based difference, then adds GST.- Prices shown in UI are typically pre‑tax.
If you share:
- proration mode used
- billing cycle (monthly/yearly)
- remaining days in cycle
I can break down the exact number.
@little wind
changing to "difference immediately" didnt solve the issue. it still charged same price again on live.
is there a limit on how much the upgrade price can be?? because ive noticed you dont allow a price below 1$ for any product
Yes, we don’t allow amounts less than $1. We have a feature request for Indian users, and you’ll be able to do this soon.
ok i see thanks.
@little wind I did another one. pro = 250INR and plus = 100 INR. Im trying to understand the extra fee. 250-100=150 +18% = 177. So whats the extra charge here?
Will check and update you
