My finance team has a couple of questions about the invoice Dodo shared with our customer. Could you help clarify the following?

  1. The current invoice lists Billed From as 'Dodo Payments Inc.' Since our company is registered in India, will we receive a separate invoice addressed to our company for our own bookkeeping and compliance?
  2. Regarding the tax component mentioned in the invoice—does this represent tax deducted at source (TDS) by Dodo, and does it also reflect the tax liability for our company? Could you please clarify how this is accounted for in our records?

Here are the clarifications for your finance team's questions regarding the invoice from Dodo Payments:

  1. Separate Invoice for Your Company:
Since your company is registered in India, you will receive a reverse invoice from Dodo Payments that indicates the amount paid by Dodo Payments to your company. This is separate from the invoice sent to your customer and is intended for your own bookkeeping and compliance needs. The reverse invoice will include your registered business name and address, which you can use for your records【4:1†source】.

  2. Tax Component on Invoice:
The tax component mentioned in the invoice typically represents the taxes applicable to the transaction based on the customer's location. For Indian merchants, Dodo Payments automatically calculates and applies GST for transactions【4:4†source】. This tax component is not a Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) by Dodo, but rather it reflects the tax liability that is part of the transaction. You are responsible for filing your own taxes, including income tax in your home country, while Dodo Payments handles the sales tax for your customers【4:4†source】【4:6†source】.

For any further details or specific cases, it might be beneficial to contact Dodo Payments' support directly, especially if there are unique compliance requirements for your situation.

@sharp shoal could you please help me with the following queires shared by our CA. Please find them below:

I am looking to correctly classify and file our GST returns for sales processed through Dodo Payments. Could you please guide me on how to identify and separate B2B (Business to Business) and B2C (Business to Consumer) sales other than report exports clearly from the sales/payment summary or reports available in the dashboard?

Specifically, I want to know if there are dedicated fields or filters that show which transactions are B2B (with valid Tax IDs) and which are B2C, so I can generate accurate GST filings accordingly.

I am unable to locate or download the reverse invoices for the settlements made to our account. These invoices are essential for our accounting and GST filing purposes. Please guide me on how to access and download these reverse invoices till date.

Additional Context:

  • We are a business registered in India.
  • We are awaiting out first payout next month(Oct 4).

• As a merchant of record, for any registered GST business in India, we return the GST amount to the business rather than remitting it on your behalf.

• For sales processed in foreign countries (e.g., UK, Spain), we remit the applicable local tax (VAT or sales tax) to the respective authorities. These are treated as exports of services, and we provide a FIRC with the details, which can be used for GST filing or reporting purposes

Reverse invoices for settlements made to your account will be accessible in your dashboard after the payout is processed. Your first payout is scheduled for October 4, and the corresponding invoices can be downloaded after that.

For further clarifications regarding GST, FIRCs, or reverse invoices, you may reach out to our support team at [email protected]

@sharp shoal Thank you for your prompt response. I have received both payouts (USD and INR) credited to my account. However, our finance team noticed that the INR payout amount was calculated after deducting GST.

Just to confirm based on your initial point in your response, will the GST amount be credited to our account in the coming days, specifically before our GST filing date on the 20th? Could you please clarify on this.

Also emailing the same query to the support email you suggested.
