GL mode and trace modes could have different scaling based on uesc or runners. Trace better v runners, gl better v uesc. Have them deal less damage to the opposite. Then it gives both modes a viable utility

You can definitely slow the grenade fire rate if you'd like as well, or make it some kind of charge up. Still preserve the alt fire utility against uesc. But I think having to place, then shoot grenades removes a bit too much functionality with how much delay there would be between placement and detonation
