I would be very suprised if wipe happens and we get all the quests being the exact same, or there aren't more quests. Would make more sense if each faction (maybe save Arachne/Cyac) to have the same number of priority contracts but have some/all be switched for different quest chains. Maybe some of them would be carbon copies in terms of objectives with new flavor, but we are getting a new map which means new story progress.

so big part of why PVP feels like shit to new players is because you were competing against people who have spent all season stacking purple and blue equipment, they have done all of the NuCal quests and have that faction ranked up really high so every faction level up reward is shitting out purple shields for them, etc.

I think it’s a combination of factors.

Bungie does not have a lot of goodwill with players after the clownshow money grab that destiny turned into. Then you’ve got players who loved destiny but hate Bungie for doing a marathon instead of destiny 3 so they act like the little kid who is mad at the new baby, if that makes sense.

Then you’ve got a lot of the sentiment being signal boosted nonstop by YouTube rage farmers who saw how lucrative it was to shit on woke games like Concord, and are hellbent on labeling marathon as being in the same category as Concord even though outside of “megacorporations are dehumanizing and bad” the game is pretty devoid of any sort of far left ideology or really any kind of ideological browbeating.

there are other factors involved too, like the game being really late to the party after its release dates kept getting pushed back.

The original game Director got himself shitcanned over unscrupulous behavior towards female employees, and they had to go back and redo a shitload of assets after the art theft scandal, so the game launched way behind schedule and has really struggled to maintain the hype that it originally generated because of how late on release they were.

Just found out my twin, who has the exact same playtime as me, has had the Enhanced Sponsored Kit available the entire time and has been using it in place of the 10K. He also has the "Profiteer" title. The Enhanced Kit has never appeared in my Armory once.

My only options have ever been:

• The basic free kit (no real armor or capable equipment)
• The 10K Sponsored Kit
• Buying equipment piece by piece from the Armory

Now that the Enhanced Kit is free for everyone, other players are getting that stronger equipment at no cost while I'm still paying 10K or assembling gear myself. I would already have the Profiteer title by now if I hadn't been buying my own equipment this whole time.

Is anyone else seeing this on their account, or is it just me? Would really appreciate a CM weighing in if one's around.

Then I use all of the free stuff from Priority Access for grenades, guns, and free heals.

I only run a free kit if I am playing the sponsored mode for fun or when i was getting Priority Contracts done (especially in Dire Marsh) since it makes it easier when everyone is not running, tuned up blue sniper rifles and purple shields lol

I don't know WHAT is going on fellas, something just clicked all of a sudden. I went from struggling to keep myself above 1K credits and just having a bunch of JUNK in my vault because I couldn't exfil with anything better, dying 2 out of every 3 runs to all of a sudden making absolute bank. I've been steadily gaining credits in my wallet over the course of the last like 4 days, and I'm at 122K balance and my vault value is sitting at 117K. This is the first time the entire wipe that I've even come CLOSE to 100K on either.

It's not even Rook or sponsored kit runs. I've just been so dialed in, getting actual decent teammates but not to the point of being carried just picking better fights, playing more defensively and it's gone from losing 2 out of every 3 games to something closer to 1 out of every 5.

Facts. I'm also hanging back a little more because I know I'm not quite as strong when it comes to gunplay, I'll let my teammates set the tone for fights and then as soon as I see someone down, or a shield gets cracked I push the FUCK outta them.

It probably helps the amount of times I'd be pushing a team, get one or 2 down and then my teammates would just sorta hang back and would be giving them time to revive/heal up. It's happened to me so often, I'm determined to capitalise on what my teammates are cooking up and it's just been working out.

re: the doom and gloom about this game dying, i simply cannot bring myself to make those kinds of sweeping predictions after i've seen so many comeback stories of games that launched in rough states. the old miyamoto adage of "a rushed game is flawed forever" simply is not true anymore. no man's sky and cyberpunk 2077 are both WAY different from marathon for a ton of reasons, but the point remains that i've seen games with disasterous releases and a ton of bad PR turn it around, and in pretty much every case it was a game like Marathon that had genuinely good bones but just needed extra time to deliver on the premise.

i fully accept the possibility that i will feel like a dumb jerk in a year or two for saying this, but for the time being it doesn't cost me anything to be optimistic besides my gaming time!

The wipe has been known from the beginning, that it's going to happen at the end of each season.

The point of the wipe is to start the season with everyone at the same base level, making it easier for new players or casual players to get into the game, since they won't immediately be matched with people with full high-tier equipment and skills at the very start.
It also gives Bungie a chance to adjust things or implement new game mechanisms or adjust the balance of things while everyone is on equal footing.

It's interesting to me that people are getting upset about it, too, Krazen.

Also worth remembering, i read somewhere that even really good players in this game tend to have an about 60% successful exfil rate so don't get disheartened if you get deleted a lot. Kind of part of the whole thing and makes the times you do get out with a lot of goodies that much sweeter

Rook runs are also a great way to recover, like- yes there's videos of doing 1v3s and taking all their stuff, but being a sneaky scavenger can work wonders. There's times I've snuck into outpost wings after a team has cleared it, because there's so many other containers they rush past.

Wearing a headset for the situational awareness directional audio gives you, kinda turns it into a survival stealth game.

(Also it's fun to try and massacre UESC with a knife while signal mask is up. One/two hit weaker bots, and It'll often reengage before a tougher bot can shoot at you if you stab them from behind and keep moving around them.)

Comparison with Destiny is not stupid because a) its a game by the same studio, b) on same engine, c) and presumably same server infrastructure.
It might be possible that Tiger Engine live services might require weekly server maintanance.
