It's not bad, but you do have to play A LOT slower and pay WAY more attention due to not having anyone to back you up or res you when you go down.

Don't go sprinting into a poi and pay attention to the bots and how they're acting, check if containers are already looted/opened, listen for shuffling feet...there's a lot of tools you can use to combat that. Assassin Invis only lasts like 15sec and it has a noticeable audio queue when it's popped.

I don't think it's even that complicated. all of the quests make you go to one area, so everyone walks to that area from the entire perimeter of the map

Dire Marsh is a cool map in concept but the reality of how people play there makes it a boot stamping on a human face, forever.

After the wstr nerf, I've been letting rooks live more often. It's now more risky to try and kill a trio.

If you spawn in at 16-17 minutes you can reasonably assume there is only 1 team left in the lobby and there’s a good chance pinwheel isn’t open so you should check and then rush destroyed wing if you are spawning in later then that like 12-13 mins there’s a good chance there is multiple teams alive and you should look for a potential pick or third party

Do you think that it is too PvP forward? I've heard commentary about success rates and the fact that a 50% survival rating is unrealistic in Marathon. When you are fighting every team each match, a map like dire marsh ends up with a 15-25% success rate normally, assuming that only 1 team makes it out. It's a bit harder to fix issues related to chasing fire fights, especially when the solutions that generally help are criticized by the community playing.

Reducing the amount of teams on the map could help with increased success rates, but many people complained about how hard it was to find another team. The distance gunshots are heard is increased, and now we are afraid of how often we get 3rd partied and how many teams we have to fight. I never had a problem finding another team to fight tbh, but I know I heard a lot of criticism about it.

I don’t have an issue with maps being PVP forward because I usually enjoy the PVP in this game.

My issue with Marsh is really the same issue I have with Perimeter. There’s just not enough to do to encourage teams to move around unless they’ve brought in a key. On Marsh for example, a lot of the teams in the lobbies I find myself in are just kind of waiting around for something to happen. A lockdown, an anomaly, a key room chime, a fight, whatever. and then so many people just end of converging, and with 6 teams the map starts feeling so much more chaotic.

They may not even have to reduce the team size. They might just need to add something else to do that’s guaranteed in marsh, like pinwheel is in outpost. Maybe just with not as high quality loot.

It's harder to work on something in motion than something not in motion. It's likely that they do it as standard practice in case they're touching things that players touch as well. Otherwise you might have weird corner case of them updating something and whatever data a player is sending to the server being dropped because they're in the middle of an update. Who knows.

Steam does server maintenance, so do a ton of live service games ranging from br like apex to other extraction games like tark or hero shooters like overwatch. Some titans like fortnite or cod might be able to do it in waves or some shit- I'm not entirely sure. I just know that the idea of updating services while data is still flowing in sounds like a nightmare. Usually you want to make a backup before tweaking anything in case you fuck up. I'm not sure how you'd do backups while also dealing with data flowing in from thousands of players. Doesn't mean it's impossible, it just sounds trickier than turning the services off for an hour or two.

Double barrel shotgun SHOULD be OP. But it also should be rare and not readily available in the armory. You can get 10+ of them per reset depending on your upgrades, even more if you get lucky with barters. The availability was always the issue imo, not that it's strong.

Their reasoning for the initial nerf was that it's "eclipsing other short range options"...yeah, because you can get it for chump change from the armory. I dunno why that wasn't addressed instead of making it effectively useless (and now trying to remedy that).
