Mac - Good for your avg person who doesn't like to apply much thought. Caters to the lowest common denominator

Windows - Same but requires a little more thought, and shows that you're a freethinker and not a muppet (Yes I have opinions about mac users lol)

Linux - Varies based on distribution. The more you like to think, the lighter weight you can go, but really you should have your risk assessment model and feature assement models ready so you can choose the right base distro for your use-case.

Unix - I've never used unix. I can't comment

proxmox is a linux distro for vm and container management. I have a bunch of different services there.

It manages my entire homelab.

I once headshot my entire thing by runnin rm -rf /usr/etc/python3 (or whatever the path is. I think i got it wrong here). Anyway I don't know why i did that. I knew what it would do. I meant to delete some other folder but brain was off.

compiling an art style together like this takes an insane amount of time and effort and a couple stolen assets won't change the overall aesthetic

all of the stolen / copied art has been removed. There is a noticable improvement on what is now in the game after revisions

I'm not allowed to break the NDA but I can say that they took out the problem art assets, and my opinion is that the efforts they made are a big step up from what was there at the time of the discovery of the stolen art, videos available on yt should reflect pre-change art in the game.

There are plenty of videos of Marathon from the period where they lifted the NDA on the alpha gameplay, after which they reinstated NDA and no new video is publicly available. My opinion is that those videos give a pretty clear picture of what the game still is, the devs are building and refining still on all of the input from the tests.

I figured I'd offer what I had to say as someone who has been following it all. 🌿

They didn’t steal the art style so they wouldn’t change the entire look. What was stolen was art put onto a decal sheet. Decals like that are gathered in mass and pasted around the environment to breakup mainly flat textures same as dirt or blood splatter that isn’t from active players or enemies.

From my short stint as an artist in games, it would be exactly the job they’d put you on as a low level contractor. Make tens to hundreds of techno babble designs that match the art style all in black and white for the environment artists to scatter around.

None of those types of textures appear on important things like hero assets, characters, or even menus usually. So all they needed to do was delete the textures and replace them with some of the hundred of other nonsense numbers and line designs already plastered around.

I’ve been in love with this art style since 95 wipeout. In fact they just released a new art book and it’s amazing.

So last time I did this, I was able to bookmark the link to check my playtest access status. Link would say something like continue checking back you’re not in yet (not those words but that was the premise) this time when I go back to the link it keeps asking me to do the survey for the test like I have not done it yet. Id need to search some examples of post futurism but I was pretty happy with my previous summary for Arc. It encapsulates the future timeline/tech, post apocalyptic for the fact they kinda have to scrap and repurpose stuff and everything isnt all sleek new and sifi-ish (and well there was a big robot apocalypse and all) and the retrofuture is for the whole 80s-90s pop culture vibe the cosmetics/character skins and tech they use (like the screens with the 4 colors)

As the survey instructed you to do so, you were meant to bookmark it because it had a unique identifier that would tell you if you were in or not. You'll get an email regardless, but that was an easier way to know.

I am pretty sure it won't become a hit with multiple hundred thousands concurrent players, like arc raiders. But i'm sure it will find its audience. I had a priviledge of participating in the last NDA test and what i saw really pleased me. Unfortunately, the damage to marathon's public image has already been done and broad audience will just push the game aside.

To me personally, the artistic value of the game is so much higher than the controversy. i will 100% buy the game and enjoy it fully. hell, during the test i mostly walked around sightseeing. that alone is enough for me

Would love something like a raid in a map where there’s like 5 teams that start on the outside of the map and have their own path to the center, fighting through pve phases to see who can get to the final room the fastest then try to smash and grab before anyone else shows up, if not fight your way out of it

Or try to pick off the guys that got there first on the way out etc

Maybe locked doors that interconnect the paths that unlock once the first team loots a certain chest or whatever, so teams can try to intercept on the way out
