so they were "better" because you had 3 maps instead of 1

and full access to be able to craft, upgrade, etc

it means "alternate reality game". they are very cool! they are mainly a horror unfiction kinda thing, but that's not a rule. Think of them as a digital easter egg hunt, with tasks and codes and riddles, that lead to more clues, and more info. You can't really read it... you have to be there for it. i was around during it, and i can tell you, it was very exciting!
