Well they have paid lip service to a lot of the things people have complained about. Balance stuff, the outdoor visuals, the character models not being detailed enough. I’m not sure if they mentioned reevaluating how Heat works but there is 0% chance they aren’t taking a good look at that, and I am sure next time we hear about customization the options will be expanded based on feedback. Proxy chat is a lock for some times post release (unless they delay, in which case it will be a day one thing for sure). Solo queue is iffy.

I keep seeing people talk about wanting a solo mode. Does anyone think that the way Hunt: Showdown handles it should be the way to go? Having a the ability to queue into trios as a solo / duo, but also having a seperate mode that can only be queued by solo / duos (meaning a mode that doesn't have trios but can still have duos, not just solos). I think that's the best way they could tackle wanting a gamemode more suited for non-trios, without compromising the search queue too much as it's only two separate queues.

I think trying to match solos with other solos or duos is the place to start, definitely. Whether that happens in an entirely separate queue or in with the trios in a more algorithmic way to just kind of limit how many full teams you’ll run into, they’ll have to figure that out. I think given the problems we’ve seen with void becoming a clear favorite for solo players, they’ll need to contend with the hero-oriented design at the same time as they deal with this. Because you don’t really want a server with nothing but solo voids

I can’t read their minds on this, but I suspect their hope was that Void could be used in a more defensive way: getting in and out of places undetected by AI, clutching difficult res, and yeah the occasional attack. But the way it’s been used is almost purely offensive by a lot of people and it’s turned out be a tad too effective for that.

I think part of the problem is that from what I've seen, Blackbirds scan also pinpoints her own location. You can use the visual of the scan to kinda locate where she is too because it goes out like a circle. Whereas Void has no drawbacks to using his ability at all. Y'all are right, it definitely needs tuning / changing in some way. Like you said, any kind of solo / non-trio mode is gonna just be Void spam unless it's changed.

One idea I had which I really liked was making his invis be a skill-based attack. Like if you threw a knife in an enemy, you became completely invisible to them until you open fire. If they have a team it won’t effect the other team members, but if they are solo all they would know is there is an invis person around. If they saw where the knife came from they may be able to fight back by taking some shots in the dark

So it’s kind of like a vision hack against a single target, if that makes sense. Also the knife itself does some damage when it hits

I just think as a player if you know there is an invisible person, you at least have some kind of counter play option. Trying to run, hide, shoot randomly. But if you have no idea then you just can’t fight that

elo compensation in hunt showdown seems to work very well. my friend and i play as a duo against trios exclusively because we get demolished in duo v duo, lol

now that i think of it, this is probably just the difference between premade duos playing against randoms without comms

Yeah a great point that I'm pretty sure a friend of mine & I have experienced too.
Irony of my statement is when I solo in Hunt I almost always queue trios still because I like the challenge. But from what I've seen, 1v3 in Marathon is a totally different ballpark to 1v3 in Hunt. I think the main point is giving people the option to at least have a slightly fairer solo / duo queue by only going against solos / duos, rather than always having to right trios. 1v2 is still gonna be tougher but still much farier odds than 1v3

Unfortunately the sentiment so far has been that because of the hero-style characters, they're clearly trying to balance for 3-player teams. It really is a mistake I think. Comparing to Hunt isn't always great considering that this is far more of a classic extraction shooter where loot is on the line, unlike Hunt where you don't really have loot. But tbh that's even more of an argument for farier queuing in Marathon.

I think the reason he stays as offensive as any other runner is because he re-cloaks after he shoots. If the cloak ended after shooting it wouldn’t be that much of an issue

More than ratting, the issue I found with void was the group.
He ambushes you and hurts or kills 1 to 2 players from your party before you can deal with him, and then the other 2 in his group come to finish it off. Reviving after being killed shouldn't be a thing and this would fix most issues, because no one is gonna go all HE-MAN if you can be whipped out forever...

It’s also worth noting that the Hunter is aggressively French and uses a rapier when fighting

Kinda. Normal Dragonborn usually stand at 6-7ft tall and they prefer shock and awe tactics, leaning heavily into raw strength and melee brawls and drop pod assaults.

Skrims in the other hand move faster and are more agile. They prefer ranged weaponry like rifles and typically try and avoid melee fights whenever possible. But they can get up close when it’s needed. Like how Kishyurr does, he typically prefers ambush tactics tho

If your muscles are extremely sore from accidentally going too hard during a workout most you can do is make sure youre getting enough protein, drinking a ton of water, sleeping well, and resting. Once the damage is done you kinda just gotta live with it

Bloodflow helps remove lactic acid. Unless it's a really bad kind of hurt where you're injured it'll help you feel better

Good tips but in addition, warm water or saunas can create more blood flow to help break down the acid and move it along, also soothes the muscles; epsom salt bath is the classic. Taking creatine (lot of cheap, decent quality stuff out there) before workouts has been proven to reduce soreness after workouts and increase growth

so, no matter what happens with marathon, i definitely encourage you to try out hunt! not as steep of a learning curve as tarkov but still very rich and deep gameplay. also a prime example of post-release content and updates :)
it's also interesting because crytek went all in on this extraction thing without any prior knowledge. i think they had a very rough time with it initially but they refined their vision over the years and made it work, it really paid off to stick with it.
