i loved the og kerenzikov movement and doing the stupid oobs to see secrets it was peak man

NDA should have stayed up and should have kept the Alpha more lowkey and not include streamers

Even the beta will still be a spun off version of the one in development. Still a bit dated compared to the internal build. Just how game dev is.

How much could really change in a few months? Likely not as much as I would hope. Unfortunately, in my experience, extraction shooters feel lame to watch and feel better to play. Let’s hope it feels more whole during beta 👍🏻

a ton can happen seeing as this was an older build that pre dated where they are in the development cycle a lot of people have this idea that what youre playing is where theyre currently at when its far from true theyre usually builds that their own QA testers have been testing for awhile before we ever see or play anything

Doesn’t seem very ‘alpha’. The parts of the game that I’m not a fan of appear to be core to the game so I’ll save my judgement for actually playing it but I’m just sad about how it looks and what kind of loops they introduced. I was hoping for something big and they just kinda said ‘eh, here’s what we have’.

I watched a bunch of YouTube essays on the past marathon games and the universe sounds so rich and cool. A hero extraction shooter just isn’t scratching an itch for me…

In some ways the negatives are the same as the positives when it comes to the story in a MP-oriented Marathon. How the game will change over time is going to be a significant attraction; levels will change, new enemies will arrive, new weapons and events, and of course new characters / heros. Factions will change their shape, what they're asking for. If you look at Destiny and what people are doing in it it's unrecognizable, and people who have stuck around have gotten to see a lot of evolution there (some good, some bad). I expect Marathon will be similar to a lot of that.

But you can't really put change over time in a box and sell it. What we get initially probably won't be nearly as cool as what we see over time.
