But as a solo, game is a ....7.1? Like, it's fun, the...loop is there it just gets frustrating for me as an solo, because the game is NOT tailored for solo and that's just on my own skill issue, otherwise the gunplay is nice (very good), the maps are nice, however the ttk....shields, aren't too good, and it can get pretty repetitive

Honestly, really well. I like the relatively slow pace; you don't run into people unless you -hear- people and go towards them -on purpose-; you can kinda hide out a bit and not get murdered if you're careful and running solo. You have to commit to fights more when there's aw hole team around.

I really miss The Cycle: Frontier, and this has a lot of the kinda stuff I enjoyed in it - loot that's relatively random, keyed rooms you can get keys for on the ground, but there's a general vibe to the loot in a given area you can use to farm for specific quest things, and mostly-PvE quests which you're doing in a very PvP-esque environment.

The only thing I liked about TCF which isn't present in Marathon is persistent maps which I enjoyed. The maps were much larger and when a map was spun up, people would be dropped in and exfiltrate more or less on their own schedule; every half an hour or so, a big storm (the Cycle) would hit, and you could farm for specific storm-only loot, then exfil with it. But the map stayed; there was no overall 25m timer, they lasted like three hours each and you could stay down as long as you could stay alive. With so much space it was easy to duck other people if you were careful and kept your ears up.

So: with downed, you come up much faster and now you also come up with more health; just a few seconds as opposed to the full 10s revive-from-bag situation. You're still obviously present and relatively easy to save, so if your team pushes enemies off you, you can get back in the fight enough to charge your shields and be functional again surprisingly fast. Right? That's not the case with the long bagrez; it's suicide to try to do the long bagrez while there're still hostiles in the area. Crucially, though, that adds some requirements for attackers as well as defenders; staying visible and engaged in combat for long enough to -shoot down- a DBNO player from range is a significant time investment - easily enough for someone to spot you and crack you right through the skull.

So: if you don't commit enough to bring someone all the way to bag-dead, then it's easier for people to rez yowu, which means you need to hit -really- hard and fast and stay engaged enough to make sure the job is done. It adds a requirement for attackers that makes hit-and-fade slightly less effective (as hit-and-fade, in games like this, is EXTREMELY effective as a rule). It means that a single surprise shot, or a headshot in an inopportune area, means that you can scramble behind cover on your ass and get rezzed, especially if you're being engaged from extreme range; it provides counterplay for common pain points of this kind, and it requires the kind of engagement which can make enemies easier to acquire and fire upon, which slightly evens the odds of a (still quite attacker-advantaged) sneak attack.

Pushing someone completely out of the game would break the way the game works, and also it would feel -terrible- to people it happens to; finishers ARE powerful and punishing, they're damn near totally silent. Also, y'know. If you can't rez from the bag, there's no way for people who -want blood- to hang around a bag with a little man floating over it and murder teammates who come 'round to rez their buds. (or get murdered by them, which is why I had occasion to win a 3v1)

I see, I see. Fantastic argument, this filled in a perspective I didn't consider.

However, some people have noted that even with the health and percentage nerf, it can sometimes feel as though players die and just pop right back into the fight. This is especially apparent in team battles within enclosed spaces, where pushing up to find someone means you're dead, sometimes without even knowing where to shoot. It makes long range engagements feel a tad pointless unless you've got line-of-sight for ages, which like you said is more than enough for you to die instead.

Also, the thing to note was to make things a bit harder for the players; trying to rez without a downed stage would be that increased difficulty. Maybe the time to rez could be lowered, but it would still mean you have to keep your head up just that little bit more, in case someone with a 50 cal is about to express-deliver you some action. This does have the downside of being at a major disadvantage in sniper fights, and I don't know how that would be patched... Maybe better team comp? IDK.

In addition, the rez situation now means fights can extend long enough for you to get third partied, which is no fun for anyone BUT the third party.

So, when it comes to 'people just pop back into the fight', that seems like largely a logistics issue on the part of hte folks who are complaining about it. Being 'back in the fight' but having no shields and 25% of your health isn't rrrreally being back into the fight; unless you have a great team who covers for you while you sprint your ass off Literally Anywhere Else and then pop three healing items in a row, you are not in fighting shape and it's very easy to for attackers to kill teammates who are attempting to rez - it's one of the most common sources of player death that I've seen personally in my time with the alpha.

As for 'they hold you in place', yes, agreed. The thing about them is there are no gunshots, which means no one can find you. I -regularly- knife people down and kill them without their teammates even turning around until I'm long gone, 'cuz when you're not -shooting-, most people don't have their mics on, and most folks in white shields don't survive long enough to get a shot off. I start uneven fights by just jumping in and murdering a dude, then disappearing, all the time. Hit and fade is brutal and it works, and without the finisher it wouldn't handcuff those folks to an open area not of their choosing nearly so well.

So the 'people pop back in' thing? I honestly think that's a skill issue. When someone's down to their bag, they're out. Also, earlier, the bagrez used to bring you back to 100% health, but that was changed recently, which means you're now brought back with 30% - basically absolute, or near it - when you come back from the bag, same as DBNO.

True. Apex also had that problem with shield swapping, and got around it by only being able to swap the amount your current shield had. We could reverse it. You only get the same amount of shields as the person you finished

True enough to both points; thanks to people like Nero, bobae and Tenka, I've been able to rez pretty peacefully whenever I get downed. However, the fact that the finisher is silent only really works assuming that the team is a bunch of randos. If mics are involved, you're pinged the moment you start shooting.

Then it's a 2v2, with my teammates fighting form a prepared position, the enemy fighting from an UNprepared position, and in a short time I'll have my shields back and heat vented so I can make it a 3v2 with crossfire. :)
