The idea of ranked conflicts with the genre a bit because it's whole thing is unpredictability, once you introduce mmr and skill based matchmaking into it, it becomes a lot less exciting

• keep matchmaking entirely random, a gold player would still be able to fight a diamond player or a bronze

• significantly reward people in low ranks who kill high ranks with lots of rank points and etc

• have rank be essentially a cosmetic "show of strength" with a leaderboard tied to it

• have a comp scene people above a certain rank can enter which then matches people of the same rank together

Unpredictability is core to the idea that you don't know who you're going up against

In a ranked match, i guarantee, you will ALWAYS fight 3 man teams (never solos or duos) and they will always run blackbird locust and the third slot will be a flex pick

That severely reduces variance of things which can actually be unpredictable
