is it just me or does a lot of the reaction to the game online seem a bit forced? dgmw I'm a bit hestitant about the apparent lack of customisation (weapons and character) but everything else looks interesting. Are extraction shooters really not that popular? Weve only had Tarkov and Hunt Showdown as ones that have "worked." i could never really vibe with Tarkov or Hunt as they are very slow/campy. The fast pace and focus on keeping moving seems fresh to me. Maybe I don't engage with games as much these days so I'm not seeing everything.

Tried destiny 2 for 28 hours at a friend's request that was a major and learned absolutely nothing, got constantly asked to spend money every 3 seconds, and generally had a mid time of things. Felt like it was impossible to engage in the main story because nothing was explained to me, the pvp was unplayable because everyone had sick gear that was better than mine, and there were so many random missions I was being pulled in like 5 different directions.

DMZ isnt a great example of Marathons direction, because it removed a lot of the tension that the best extraction games have. Tarkov is a good example of the tension, but a bad game (1200 hours, love tarkov but its bad) The Cycle might be closer to what Marathon is gunning for but its shut down
