While majority of people would love fully customizable characters, the idea of runners isn´t that awful. The problem is, since its more of a hero shooter, adding more runners would hinder balancing for the game, imo if Bungie kept the runners at 6 maximum for launch it would be easier to balance AND you could delve deeper into narrative with these 6 runners, let the narrative evolve around them so the story doesnt get too dispersed with more runners, and lastly, the less runners the more customization Bungie could add to them visually and gameplay wise to keep things fresh.
