Reach is Bungies Halo swan song. It holds a special place in my heart as well. But I loved the Halo series and once Bungie left, I was out. Didnt give a shit about Halo 4 because in my eyes, MC story was told. A year ago I tried the rest of the Halo games. I can safely say I was right (imo) in my judgement. Destiny, while good, kind of ruined my view on Bungie with those fucking Grimoire cards. D2 course corrected in the right direction, but I never felt the attachment to the story that I did with Halo (ok, the one where Kayde-6 dies is the closest I got before I dropped of the Bungo train). I'd always been a fan of Marathon because of its link to Halo and how they kind of intertwined, but the past few years I had made the effort to play through the Marathon series and better understand its lore. I'm so glad I did. This is the shit i love. And while I suck at extraction shooters (I appologize to any of you who got stuck with me during runs) I'm loving this world.

Some of the logs suggest the colonists repressed/suppressed information/discussion of the first attack, presumably in part because of how horrific it was.

They may have covered up signs of the initial attack as best they could. There’s also all the other weirdness going on that could also play a part.

I haven’t looked at Destiny lore in ages but yes. The Final Shape wasn’t the Darkness’ desire by any measure. It’s all about the game between the Gardner and the Winnower. Oryx was, as far as I recall, the closest we’ve ever gotten to fighting a true representative of the Darkness. Oryx spoke to the Darkness; I don’t recall Smokey having had the same privilege tbh.

There are no sightings of any combat on any map (except for outpost, but i think that there was some kind of little civil war considering all the MIDA connections with the map), Jasper and Archival PSA logs even states that one day Marathon went dark because of security reasons, so its more likely that Pfhor only attacked the ship and were dealt with
