Marathon itself was probably a 5th Vaporware project to begin with but had the most work done on it and the Sony contract required a new game to be relased, so they had to push this one out the door

I like that there is a little bit of a skill edge here. Skill is rewarded as much as equipment brought into raid. I like that. Its the tarkov feel of being able to take on someone better equipped than you and win.

I hope this game doesn't take pve only seriously. These sorts of games were never meant to be pve and all that does is give lip service to people who barely play and split the community

Remember, they're also experimenting with PvE, which opens up a side of the game that can draw in new players, too. It can be daunting to start the game, load in, and see people running around max kitted while you just left trainer perimeter. So just gotta see how things go and what happens
Some of those new players may find they like the PvP, too

Both games can be enjoyed they are just different and have a slight overlap on the player base. Criticism isn't necessarily complaints if the goal of both titles are different specially in how they are structured and designed to be played.

In this type of game, where PvP is a heavy thing, most of it boils down to getting better at the game yourself.
Something you might find useful is going into a match, dying, and then spectating the teams to see what kind of tactics they use. Not only will it give you ideas that you might not have thought of, but it'll give you insight into how other players approach the game, how they enter rooms, search hidings pots, etc

Extract shooter overall ask for a different skill set as opposed to an arena game or a battle royale. In an extract shooter awareness is extremely important. You need to know when to retreat, when to be sneaky, when to just wait and listen. Trigger discipline is very important. Its also about good positioning and resetting fights if the fight takes longer than it should

There's places where you will usually find them, and doing things in an area can call them, but they also like to chase players if the players don't take them out, so you might find them in places you wouldn't expect

Ranked Cryo is either going to be a nightmarish bloodbath or just Cryo as usual and you can sometimes dip out without running into a single team if your rotations are lucky

I think the best tactic I've seen to learn the maps is to go in as Rook, stay on the edge of the map, and avoid exfil areas entirely. That way, all the other teams leave/die, then you can look around with the rest of the time left until end time

There is a solo queue. If you match solo with crew fill off, you enter a separate queue. It doesn't stop people from playing together when they meet up, but you do go up against other teams that are made up of just one player.
Going in as Rook, however, does take you into normal team matches

Bad mindset. As a solo you shouldn't be avoiding fights, but be taking them when the moment comes. You have to play tactically without the fear of losing your gear and believe me once you can achieve that your progress will be insane

It's interesting sometimes seeing the requests and feedback and how it swings when implemented.

People were complaining that there wasn't enough PvP on maps because of low team counts, so Bungie increased team counts, then people complained about too much PvP and spawning too close together

The only reason I've been avoiding fights is I'm just not there skill wise yet. Still getting a grasp on surviving PvE. I do ocassionally come accross other players, though I don't have the gear to compete with players who are more experienced. I just end up losing my gear usually. I think what would make things better for me is if I had friends who also got the game. Because most people aren't using their mics in the matches I end up in, I have no way to coordinate with them strategically and effectively. I normally die when I try to revive teammates. What I have been finding effective is to not go out in the open

I do think that you need to just push yourself to experience PVP as much as possible; even in solo, you don't really 'lose' when you die as you're gaining relevant experience and knowledge to apply further plus even if you win and get gear, it'll be gone in a week so there's no need to really view a loss of loot as a demerit rn (imo) - worst thing you can do is avoid fights as you learn so infrequently
