Me and my crew feel exactly the same say! Have progressed into a bracket now where we just get steamrolled every single run and can't compete with streamers and sweaty squads who just rush spawns and wipe you in seconds. i think a d3 would be great too i just think the core issue is that (at least anecdotally speaking) anytime ive asked my friends abt what they want from a d3, they say to "shake things up" but never really explain what that means beyond sandbox updates, which is something d2 is capable of. its very easy to SAY "make something fresh and new and exciting" without thinking what that could entail. as far as ive seen concerned, d2 has everything capable to update across the board to the vision of d3 ppl want. it just requires them to actually buckle down and put real manpower into it, and not just keeping the game on life support

tbh, that's fine. the map design is supposed to be brutal, especially with fills being the way they are.

however, i think the main problem for you is that you dont have the opportunity to play the map consistently enough to develop experience with it. because if you have trash gear, you're just gonna get steamrolled and learn nothing of value really.

so build up the vault a bit, and if u lose it all, then you're looking at a multi hour grind for recouping needed assets to try again

this is part of why it's more of a BR mix than a pure extraction.

big maps means less chance of running into other squads randomly. you can hold vantage points, watch the distance, or just the sheer amount of travel time will deter some POIs from being investigated with, "oh there's probably a team already entrenched in here, might as well skip it."

Arc has very few positives. I like the idea of a hub and the idea of crafting. Those are unrelated to extraction. It was designed to be a coop pve game and it failed spectacularly. That sounds fairly reasonable. The other thing I want to know about is how did we/the uesc get to TCIV? Like clearly there has been at least 1, probably at least 2 ships that came here since the Marathon. The marathon took the better part of 300 years to make the trip but it was absolutely massive. I'm guessing the UESC and megacorp ship(s) were probably much, MUCH smaller and were probably moving at least in the low end of relativistic speeds. Cause the colony only collapsed about 100 years ago, so even if a ship was sent immediately, that still means it was moving at a minimum of 3x the speed of the marathon, and I get the feeling that it wasn't immediate. I'm guessing the second wave ship(s) probably did the 11.9 lightyear transit in somewhere between 50-20 years (earth time) and probably only contained minimal biological humans if any. The runners would have had no bodies sent over and there would have been minimal UESC drones sent, they would have probably manufactured almost everything from what was already there.

The Retaliator LMG and v11 punch are your best friend, very cheap and reliable weapons
And make sure to pick up all the white and green salvage you find while you’re new! Salvage is used for useful item trades and is your main way of obtaining heals

vandal is great if you want to avoid conflict completely. Destroyer is solid and has good mobility and good survivability with the shield (can can sprint and thrust with it active) and assassin is solid if you know when to move and pick you moments right. The simplest is probably vandal, but all have techniques and tricks that you can eventually learn to get really good at them

recon is probably the best shell to learn the game with imo. the wallhacks will help you gain an advantage on knowing enemy positioning, and her lack of movement tech will help you learn the fundamentals better than the shells that allow you to react to bad positioning with high mobility

assassin, unfortunately, is similar with invis tech. but just be aware that invis is relatively balanced and not overpowered. so it will not solve all of your problems, and can easily turn into a crutch

Oh yeah triage is really useful too, even solo! Movement is not as good as others but the ability to attach your med drone to yourself means you can heal yourself and recharge your shields without consumables. It also will dramatically slow how fast you bleed out which can be really useful even in solo because as long as you activate the exfil the uesc drones probably wont be able to kill you before you bleed out and you can still exfil. It's... Less effective against other runners cause they will use their finisher.

it's just double recon for cryo tbh. rotating two primes with energy amps allows you to pretty much have constant map awareness

good teams that understand enemy positioning best can swap out one of the recons for another movement character, but triage isnt really cryo meta. he's good, dont get me wrong.

but most teams that are successful just run double recon with good med resources and one movement character. really good teams with confidence and map understanding will do two movement characters and one recon.

triage isnt going to help much in cryo. the map is extensively more fast paced and crutching his healing usually will lead to you playing too passive and getting collapsed on easily.

his biggest benefit as a shell is offsetting the resource needs for meds for early game, especially free kits and green shields. but in cryo, the meta is usually more fast paced and it's either full fight commitment or complete disengages and running.

which isnt his strong suit because he has no movement tech and his prime doesn't really help if you're not cover firing for a downed runner. most games are usually either full team wipes, or you manage to escape barely and are trying to rotate back for the rez.

imo, thief is kinda in the same boat as triage rn. her best advantage for the map atp is that she can grapple in or out without being affected by heat.

however, her main strength in cryo has diminished greatly because recon buffs made her intel gathering irrelevant, and recon buffs plus grenade spam makes assassin invis spam unusable as well (so her visor isn't needed in smokes anymore). her biggest strengths were consistent grappling with wstr to destroy people on offense super quickly, but wstr being nerfed also made her capability in TTK a bit too low for that style of play.

vandal movement tech is now more consistent for better positioning advantages when utilizing data from recon prime, and destroyer is still miles better for offensive immediate engagement imo. so she's kinda fallen off hard, but is still usable.

assassin imo is the only shell that is truly unplayable on cryo.

When you unlock the core upgrades you're just playing the game the way it should have been on a level 5 account.

again, loot POIs just need to be better. even in the form of just something more useful

IE, imagine an armory on a map that has pretty much any gun in grey form in the game. perfect map to want to loot to build your arsenal, but is obviously a high value target for a lot of teams all looking to restock on particular guns.

unique and valuable loot POIs would just complete the loop of this game and force real gameplay.

yeah I think you're right. Some areas will probably be more noticable. I noticed a big difference with mele damage with that upgrade, and maybe a bit of difference with 1 agility upgrade. But overall it all adds up to really improving survivability. Repair speed is one that I think might make a lot of difference but might be hard to notice in particular.

In Tarkov best loot is usually behind very expensive keys in highly populated POIs. Yeah you can scavenge something on the sides, but usually nothing great will come your way

Yeah but at least you can progress from poor loot to something better while still exfill. In marathon you cannot if you are not good in PvP and the worst part is that casuals dont feel any progress when they die in less than 5 min
