Because the triage isn't up front throwing grenades in the current format. He's in the back getting ready to spam panacea or bubble + rez if he needs to. It's not "who can throw the most grenades in the shortest amount of time." It's "who runs out of equipment first." Your change would make it so that if you DIDN'T have a triage, you would likely not be able to sprint the moment you threw several nades, while the enemy can move forward and continue throwing.

That's kinda what I'm saying, LMAO. Most players will complete a few faction challenges, maybe dip their toes in ranked, and have only a couple hours a day to play. Beyond that, the other content is really locked behind "getting gud" and grinding the high end maps. Want the best loot? Gotta play outpost and Cryo where the sweats and cheaters are. Want the hidden lore stuff? Cryo. It's not really doable for the average person, and a lot stop because of that. Then you have the lower player count, meaning that you probably won't have any friends who play anyway. It's hard to play for 3 months non-stop if you don't like extraction shooters, and beyond map mastery, there isn't much else. Almost all the cool lore is hidden behind contracts and faction stuff, and those can also be agony to complete for the average person.

My fix to the grenade situation:

I think everyone knows right now how awful the grenade spam is and I think there are a lot of solutions that could fix it, but I think I've found one that would work best.

Marathon should have a grenade catching equipment (aka a Trophy System) which lasts for 45 seconds and is the same rarity as bubble shields. This equipment should catch and destroy all enemy grenades and enemy runner projectiles (triage drone, recon seeker, assassin smoke, destroyer missiles, etc). This would keep the quality of life of having stacks of grenades if you so want but allows for groups to be better prepared to counter grenade spam. Having it be the same rarity as bubble shields will keep it scarce enough that grenades will still be viable to use but will allow for more fair and methodical gameplay to occur, especially in higher levels where it matters the most.

Your most important upgrades are in Cyac. Second most important upgrades are in NuCal and the early base Agility upgrade from Mida. You should put all your focus into reaching the upgrade that lets you buy blue shields from NuCal, and reaching level 30 for the capstone 6 upgrade from Cyac to give your Rook a blue backpack while upgrading your shell's heat capabilities. Those are the absolute most important things to target early on. I would strongly advise not focusing on Traxus at all early on as you don't really get anything useful and you won't have the funds to make use of the purchases.

Assassin Shell isn't useless, rotting on the side of the road.
Assassin/Destroyer combo becomes valid again for storming locations.
Vandal becomes a valid pick with Recon to cannon smoke and dislodge targets
Recon ult remains valid, because unlike when signal jammer made people invis, a giant smoke cloud is a visual indicator that someone is hiding from the ult.
Thermals would start being used again.
Smoke nades would start being carried and competing with offensive nades for space along with bubbles.

They synergize well with the limited mobility of small rooms in Cryo which almost everyone must cross to get to some POI, so people are mad when they get caught in those spots, but that's by design
