Hey Bungie please get rid of “In A Single Run” contracts, they are not fun in the slightest and all it takes is one bad encounter to make you start all over again.

I just wasted two hours failing to do Order/Chaos, either enemy runners or in one case a LOCKDOWN ruined everything.

Tell me; is getting killed by enemy players or getting a lockdown blocking the location of the last objective and THEN getting killed by enemy players sound fun to you? Because having to do everything all over again and PRAYING someone better isn’t where you need to go is not fun.

Level based matchmaking. As you start climbing in level, there’s less and less people near your skill level (like on steam, the largest group of players, only 2.4% of game purchases lead to a player becoming over level 100)

So there’s less people for them to queue you with, and especially late into the night, it’s only grinders on. High high levels. Because the game would rather have someone like you, with probably over 100 hours, get pooped on by a lvl 300, rather than a lvl 25 getting nuked their first time in cryo.

I love that marathon is hard, I love that it’s sweaty, but that’s also its biggest problem. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with not being the best at a video game, or even good at it. And marathon makes it bad, to be bad, a bit too much.

That, combined with low player counts, this difficulty you’re experiencing is probably the way it’ll be, if not worse over time.

This game has the hyper scape problem. As people want to try the game again (season 2) there’s gonna be a ton of sweats…

Running cryo still offers amazing loot even without vault keys, and can allow you to pull 40k contraband, gold loot from the security clearance 4 room, vault keys for other maps, etc. all to gear you up so whenever cryo is done, you can outpost and get your cryo keys at an early level.

We've tried slow, we've tried rushing control and tried rushing other rooms. We've done double recons, amp'ing the whole raid to try to keep it running constantly. We're not the best players, by far, but we hold our own on outpost, darsh, etc. so I'm not sure what's not clicking on Cryo - especially considering that we have had success occasionally.

The WSTR is inherently pretty hard for bungie to nerf or buff due to its design. Purple teams - even if I'm wearing purple shields - it feels like most purple teams are godmode gamers? Not cheaters, just ... really, insanely good.
The disparity between a blue shield team and a purple shield team feels huge.
I get very .. hm, stressed? .. trying to fight purples because it feels like they're competitive professionals every time haha.

I would just stop caring about what shield people have on altogether unless it's for thinking about how many shots you need to down them. Purple shields at this phase of the wipe are basically standard gear. Your perception and reaction to seeing a purple shield is probably harming your gameplay subconsciously. Although with the WSTR change most purple shields have no fear anymore and will stat-check you more often if you are hurt or lower shield.

That's the thing. The shield difference is negligible, but for some reason it makes them so much harder to kill? I know that sounds weird. But it's that it feels quite difficult because their general talent is tough.

despite what some may try to tell you: having a constant flow of purple equipment means that these people put a loooot of hours into building their vaults. Which also means that they probably have a lot of experience and mechanical skill under their belts.
it's certainly not the default or standard. It's okay to still be put off by encountering purple teams.

What it boils down to is two things:
Mechanical skill, which you can only really get by playing, because Bungie for whatever reason did not add Firing Range.
The other is Experience / Game Knowledge, whatever you want to call it.
What weapons and gadgets do you have with you? Can you lure teams into traps, or is it maybe smarter to disengage and maybe jump them when they're distracted.
You don't have to take every engagement head-on.

I rarely try to take fair fights, I used to play triage a lot but I switched to thief for the amazing grapple ability and it's changed a lot of my fights for the better. What an amazing shell.
I use all kinds of kit, though I will always prefer the glorious M77. I use Overruns a lot though just because they're funny to use, but if I'm using an overrun and lose to a purple team, I'm only blaming myself for bringing an overrun lol

I think my biggest issue is the accuracy of players who wear purple shields is always really good.
One player can melt me instantly. But that's fine.

It's more the fact that enemy gamesense seems to be consistently better than mine.
The resolution to this, of course, is to play more, get better gamesense, and adapt. I'm not simply whining!

Question time, this one has boggled my brain. Yesterday we encountered a crew that got inside the data wall locked room on Perimeter without using a key, no music had gone off notifying that the locked room had been opened, and the door was still sealed shut, but the light on the panel wasn't lit up red anymore suggesting the room is unlocked, but you couldn't interact/open the door. The vent access panel on the ground floor hadn't been smashed, one of my team members smashed the vent and grappled up there, and noticed that the sealed vent panel that bungie had patched in was gone and he was able to access the room, but its clear this team couldn't have used this access. My team member couldn't open the locked room door from the inside and had to use the vent to get back out. I been back a couple of times to check this out, I cannot find any other way in there except if you use the key. I've grappled up the vent and the sealed panel is in place, and there's no way around it. What do you think how are they doing it? glitching outside the map of something?

Again, they could have just added ~counterplay~ to the thermals and everything would have been fine. When thermals were a problem, Signal Jammer was not purchasable nor was it widely accessible, and that item is the main counter to it. Furthermore, they could have added things like heat grenades temporarily blinding the thermals as the heat wave rolls out creating a short "smoke" effect for the thermal sights.

This game was in development hell for years and has several different directors. They finally just hired someone and said "put this thing out so we can recoup losses." and that's how we got Marathon.

Then the closed beta happened and everyone told them it was boring, and that nobody was going to play the game. It was like Arc raiders but without the social interaction and fun. So they pivoted and made it a hardcore extraction shooter. The game is actually fantastic, but they keep nerfing shit instead of addressing the underlying issues, which results in large chunks of players leaving after every patch.
