I think that's the thing - the gameplay loop is going to feel very similar regardless of the point you're at. The power fantasy is felt when you first start in your beginner frame and it's felt when you find a build that works for you. If it doesn't click into place for you and it doesn't scratch that certain itch, odds are even lategame builds and content won't necessarily do it. for some folks it could be literally the most fun they've ever had - and for others they just couldn't care less regardless. It's just that kind of a game lol.

Well no, I didnt say if it takes hours before a game "clicks", as this is subjective. The time it takes for a game to click ranges from player to player. I mean if the beginning of a game is an absolute slog, but all much of the playerbase is saying "keep playing, the game opens up around hour 230" that is not a good game lol. That's bad game design. It should be great from the start, and even better in the endgame.

this is the main issue stopping people from finishing the star chart and getting access to steel path endgame content
archwing missions are pretty annoying and havent been looked at for years
hijack missions are genuinely the worst thing ever
the grind for mid to late game viable weapons can take a really long time
and some mods that are pretty much essential to endgame play (cough cough sure footed and PSF cough cough) are so hard to acquire that it puts people off from even trying

TBH I think Warframe is just daunting. You literally just do every node and neat side quests when they pop up. That's literally all the tutorial you need to get into the game, everything else is extra, and real builds don't matter until like SP.

I mean as an enjoyer of the game I've been hoping for Railjack updates or a new set of maps, updates to arcwing/arcwing weapons to make it more enjoyable, and changing/updating some mechanics regarding eximus units. It's definitely not perfect. There's a lot in the game that's easy to criticise - and trust, a lot of regular players do. Drop rates, etc. They're working on the new player experience but granted this new player introductory quest for modding should've been out YEARS ago.

I don't think Marathon's problem is onboarding at all tbh, shockingly 60% of people have completed 21 runs. I think people just get sick of running against three mans in a game with no actually matchmaking mechanics beyond level.

Oh Volt is the play then - go for max range, focus on discharge. Genuinely one of the best frames in the game and he's a starter. that’s an entirely different problem than the one i was discussing but i have one main insight. people take game too seriously and don’t fear consequences. the reason that i believe valorant doesnt have a lot of cheaters is due to the culture of “fear” regarding vanguard as a big example
