I'm glad you looked it up, it's insane that it's true but it is. I wonder what its properties really are but we don't seem to be using it in that fashion. I made a new player guide a bit earlier gonna repost it 4 u:

I think you need to grind materials and unlocking every faction level, focus on the shell upgrades and being able to buy meta weapons (bully, WSTR, Longshot) in this specific order. The other reason this important is because it is better to hold mods for guns than guns to save vault space. The next thing you want to focus on after you get every faction is leveling up the ones in this order, cyac (gets you backpack access which is key for looting and running, also a free blue and purple key, followed by Nucal, want to scale up to getting free blue and purple shields) as fast as possible. You want to grind contracts till you’re 20 with those. Next most important are probably Arachne though don’t do their contracts aside from the beginning ones, just killing runners and finishing runners gets you help here. Mida is probably next because utility is crazy strong. Once you’re level 20 Cyac and Nucal. After this you want to start playing mainly outpost and pinwheel or doing events. Since you’re new I recommend doing solo outpost runs, look up a conveyance key route. This is going to be the best way and most time effective way to get good mods, guns (think misriahs, outlands, etc.), and if you open command wing you get a garaunteed purple valuable so $4k. After you’re good for cryo, ranked, etc.

There are only 3 maps in the game and there not very big. If they opened cryo all the time. People would have it completely cleared in a week or two and the game wld die as there is no other content in the game. I feel it should have had more maps on release, but knowing bungie and there love of drip feeding continent, they will probably charge us for more maps. Cammycakes' most recent marathon video opened my eyes to a new version of inventory management. With zero guns in your vault you can buy and kit out like 20 wstrs per day, that's 20 attempts with a meta weapon to earn permanent progress via faction loot. Guns aren't valuable whatsoever, it's all the upgrade mats

the problem is the game needs you to put in a lot of effort before it starts feeling rewarding, and the grind is pretty insane compared to any similar game.

on top of that the game is just super hard, extracting is more rare than similar games in the genre. combine that with the shrinking playerbase that gets sweatier every day and its just a really hard game to get into
