Would a stock loadout mode be good for the game?

Reason I think it might be interesting is that if all players start with the same loadout then can only gear up through looting POIs on the map, there's an element of standardization and (for lack of a better term) fairness in starting conditions. Being able to gear up through looting means that on certain maps (looking at you perimeter) you have a much more standard flow to player movement and it forces certain engagements rather than some runs being dead and some runs being bloodbaths within a specific POI that's over in a few minutes.

guys i've been trying to make vandal good since launch and I just can't justify picking her over literally any other shell, besides recon. destroyer and thief have movement just about as good, verticality is useless inside buildings, can't shoot while sliding, cannon doesn't provide nearly the same utility as other shell abilities, and her ult literally makes her glow like a neon sign. I'm trying so hard to justify taking her over any other shell, but it just feels bad watching my teammates do everything I do, only better. Can someone explain what I'm missing here?

Problem isn't that it's a shotgun, problem is that if the first shot doesn't kill, you can just shoot again. Something the other shotguns can't do.

It makes up for the WSTR's lack of range, and because of certain mods, it being only two shots isn't a balancing factor, or at least not one that is a big enough drawback.

Additionally, unlike tarkov, you're super quick when you swap weapons to the WSTR. So it's never really down. Since you can basically swap in less than a second and pull it out.

So many encounters in close range become Shotgun "Jousting" Where players push at each other and the one who wins is up to luck mostly. (It often leads to trades) Not to mention Bubble shields being so awkward the usual best option when one is dropped is just to walk the other way and leave. (Yes I know you can teamshot the bubbleshield but that's not always a viable option depending on context + Many teams in Cryo have more than one.) Add assassin + signal jammer and you can get an invisible guy just walk up to you with either insane melee, or basically instant kill shotgun.

Other shotguns have balancing factors

Misriah doesn't one shot blue/purple shields, better for firing at long range or finishing tagged targets. Fire rate makes it less viable for just straight rushing people.

Circuit Breaker has to charge up, there's the sound of it charging to warn enemies you have it and ready. Doesn't one shot btw

Do these things have counters? Yes. Is it fun to deal with? No.

WSTR as it is makes many fights waiting around corners, or straight up insane amount of grenades being tossed.

WSTR being this strong wouldn't be as much of a problem if it weren't for the fact that every player can buy three a day and if I go to one run on outpost I can leave with 4 from other people. (Good players have a surplus of it)

I did state that I only used it a couple times last night for example. But typically if you are at a disadvantage you really should avoid combat and the sponsored kits are a massive disadvantage. So unless the entire other crew is looting other runners while facing away from you, it’s probably not worth even trying. 😉

Sponsored kits are easy profit because they cost nothing and give you a gun with ammo for free. I go in for a 5 min run, maybe ambush a player but I fill up my bag and get out when extracts spawn

I just came across a team cheating in ranked. running around with snipers and downing multiple teams as soon as the match started. Hip firing from extreme distances. There isn't a way to report in-game and the game only gives you 2 minutes on the post game report screen. In that time you have to rush to Bungie.net, find the report section and hope you can still see the usernames. The reporting process is a complete joke

I think the buy in is far too high Cryo. I went in with a 800 credit gun and just brought a rail gun as my secondary to meet the credit limit. I melted the UESC but my crew got wiped immediately by another crew after encountering them.

So the PvP doesn’t seem to require 5K of gear. I think just not allowing sponsored kits would be enough.

Seems like at this point all the best players will have the best gear from Cryo and farm everyone else with their gold gear during the week. 😉

I didn’t say gear didn’t matter. I stated that a blue overrun was good enough to melt the UESC in Cryo. I wouldn’t use a grey because that would be insane. There is a difference between gear not mattering and that a certain level of gear is good enough for a certain task.

I think the bigger issue is that there won’t be a big enough player base to sustain the game. If the game is bleeding players each week, even in a week they release a hyped new map and ranked, the game is in trouble.

It’s easy to say things like “well that’s an end game map for no lifers” but people want to play it. If I can play for 60 hours and realistically only play it twice in a weekend, that doesn’t make sense.

I had no problem playing the map either. My crew just got killed by other players the instant we encountered them. Maybe it’s because I played trio fills? No idea. I am pretty good at other shooters so it isn’t just a skill issue.

If the game is too hard for anyone to play, then nobody will play it.

I wonder if it as a combination of things. If the lowered the bot difficulty, and the louder gunshots made people prioritize going fast to wipe out other teams early, AND on Monday they moved the spawns closer, it could make the game dramatically harder for trio fills.

My teammates are typically not cautious at all and usually are the cause of the other crew attacking us I think. I usually don’t even know there is another crew until one of my crew members are already down.

I think people are less cautious too because if you always encounter another crew within 1-2 minutes of spawning it makes it feel like CoD or something so people try to play the game like that.

So maybe that is my problem trio fills are only possible to have a good game with if you are extremely lucky.

But really Monday was what really killed it for me. The spawns have to be closer as of that day. I didn't encounter players in the first 1-3 minutes every game before that. I had a game where my crew got wiped 30 seconds into the match.

Now it feels like there are a lot more people using sponsored kits because of the death spiral. It also seems like people are playing differently. The start of a run is like a meat grinder that everyone is trying to get early kills to upgrade their gear. Even when my crew kills the other crew, they almost always have crap gear too. 🙂

If in most runs you encountered other players closer to the 5-10 minute mark you would be risking your gear. So people would play more cautiously instead of just rolling the dice.

I think I might like different parts of the game. My favorite part is contracts and upgrading my factions. I think the PvP is interesting but more as a way to create tension. I would like if the game was equal amounts of PvE, exploring / looting and PvP. And I would like the PvP to feel like the players are more cautious about it, that they have something to lose. To me it is a gameplay pacing thing.

If I wanted to focus on PvP first, I would play something like CoD, Overwatch or something like that, because in that case it is purely skill based. I do well on those games.

And if they implement solos into Cryo then they definitely gonna have to adjust the amount of mobs. Nah man I've done solo cryo. It is just that hard you have to bounce massive waves of high damage ads and multiple groups at the same time. It generally just isn't a fun experience in my opinion, but I understand if you like your 10-hour shift at the ball crushing factory

One thing to note is the game only has 60 fps servers, so the tick rate of the actual gameplay would only be 60 fps. Technically if you run higher FPS you get slightly lower latency just from framerate, but the numbers are so small after you get to 60 fps it doesn't matter much.

Either way for me, from a feel perspective in games in general, they start to feel good to me at about 80fps VRR. Above that is a nice to have, but the higher the framerate above that, the less of a difference it makes for me.
