That can happen but pretty unlikely. The only thing I think could possible “fix” the issue are some form of gear limitations like Cryo but the other way around. For example either maps or map variants that limit the gear to a mx of maybe greens or blues, for better balance. Not sure there is enough of a player base for the matchmaking to work that way though. It would definitely make it more skill based rather than gear based. I know it won’t happen but not sure of another way to make that work.

I like the concept of solos but this game is literally not balanced for solos at all. The fundamental design is for trios and it isn’t really possible to fix. That is the issue they have now. Since it’s not possible to balance they probably shouldn’t have introduced solos or duos. And I don’t mean people shouldn’t be able to play a game solo or duo. But if the game fundamentally doesn’t work for it, they shouldn’t even allow it. I have seen reviews where the person only played solos and says the game sucks. You can’t review the game unless you have played trios because that is the “real” game.

I had fun playing solo in perimeter but the game isn’t designed around it. It was much easier to take out other runners than trios too, because I only have to worry about one runner. It was easy to take out other runners even with free kits. But the issue is all of the PvE is balanced for trios. You can play careful with the bots sometimes, but a lot of the cool loot comes from events where you have to fight a ton of them, and they are tough eve in trios sometimes.

I think the bigger issue is just the bots are balanced the same for solos and trios. The bots can already be hard in trios. You are supposed to fight bots in events and such to get all the best loot. Although people talking about playing the game like survival horror, that is not the intend design of the game.

It think that is a major flaw in the game. Some people just want to drop in and play with random fills. Not all people have the flexibility in time to schedule time for a game. It could be nice to have the matchmaking match solo trio fills with other solo trio fills for balance. That is actually a major issue in CoD too. There is a high likelihood of being matched up with another team that has a three or most stack of people playing together and it completely throws out all balance between teams.

If a large number of people prefer trio fills it is definitely a flaw in the game. It doesn’t mean they are obligated to fix it. The game is not designed to be balanced or fair. I mean guns don’t do more damage directly due to mods, but you can have free kits or green shields and your opponents could easily have purple shields. So it’s yet another layer of game imbalance having premade trios matchmake with solo fill trios.

Realistically they should work to balance the game better in someway though because the imbalance will grow over the life of the title. It will become impossible for new people to play the game at all. Heck it might already be that way. 🙂 And because of that, player counts will go down and the game will die. So that’s why some form of balance is important.

It’s moreso to make sure Marathon can have a future. Not enough people showed up for what Bungie is offering, especially their old playerbase.

Adding options doesn’t harm the game in anyway. PvE-only players will have their mode, PvP-only players will have their mode, and the core Mararhon community will stay with PvPvE and you will likely not see much overlap unless Bungie encourages it via bounties/quests.

Think differently. 🙂 And unlike solos, the underlying game balance is fine for trio fills just not the matchmaking. They can’t match make separately for premade trios and trio fills though. Then Activision forced them to make destiny 2 and all that went out the window.
