The entire studios founding was what you proposed (obviously not really as/with a Union though) but the ultimate goal was funding in a style where the devs where making more money residually than how apex/EA had paid them after massive success.

The problem, (and I say this as someone who gave Highguard a chance AND money) was that they had wanted to make a Rust fantasy esque game. Too big a scope and either their “Tencentive” hehe or something else forced them to shrink it down to the smaller pvp mode.

But they made some bad choices and didn’t think it through. Think it was less “too many chefs” and more “we wanted to make a “all you can buffet” and now we have to turn it into a burger joint, and everyone outside expected a sit down restaurant instead at minimum but we didn’t look outside.”

Either way, the suits suffered nothing but time, and the devs lose out on work, as the industry goes.
