Oh wow, yeah ok. A lot of points here. I think in terms of limited bag space tension it's a good thing imo. Living with green bags is what makes having a purple bag all the more special. In terms of not knowing what something does for a gun imo throw it in a bag and save the in-depth build crafting for the lobby. We have a gun "workbench" kind of UI where you can inspect the gun and see what mods you have that go in it all in one place. It's "Inspect" on a gun in the Vault or Loadout. You can freely swap and compare and read to your hearts content in there. Over time in run you'll be able to spot what's a scope vs a mag vs belt vs a grip pretty quick. Just takes a bit of time and familiarizing.

One thing I've noticed that I actually appreciate is that it seems like the map screen is purposefully a *little bit* obtuse - yet the tauceti.world map is so in-depth. I don’t agree? I think clarity in item is extremely important for the game. Just from a usability perspective. Icons are far more memorable than nondescript chips and nothing really is lost. You can put it as an inscription on the inside of the chip if you don’t want it just to be an icon

I've been reading a lot of reports on Twitter about different reasons why Marathon might have trouble maintaining an audience.

And none of them have been detailing that the game isn't good enough or that ARC Raiders will prove stiff competition.

Most of the reports have been that Marathon might have trouble succeeding because 1/2 of the playerbase (PvP-centric) are telling the other 1/2 of the playerbase (PvE-centric) to stop playing the game.

Do you believe that Marathon will succeed if the PvP-centric players manage to get all of the PvE centric players to quit the game permanently and never return?

yeah sorry i try my best to understand the thought processes going into these systems so my apologies if i ever come off as like berating and whatnot, its not my intention to im just trying to compare my own experiences to see where we may diverge or converge on a topic. right, anyways!

I did see the workbench for a lil bit while waiting for my teammates (read: saph, she is likely in chat. hi bestie) to ready up. I do love this system and I think it would benefit from a quick switcher that updates based on inventory. Im thinking something like baldur's gate 3 where if I click on the slot for my legs, it shows all the legs I can equip on there that are in my loadout/vault (inventory for the sake of the conversation). Personally something like that would go a long way to simplifying the "what goes where" game. Its easier to pick from 3 options that you know work on a weapon than guessing if one mod/chip fits on one weapon or another. Something similar could also probably be applied to implants, I think it would go a long way to simplify the lobby vault buildcrafting, but please let me know your thoughts on that idea im open to discussing it

As for my original point, I am totally willing to chalk it up me not being able to identify mag/scope/grip as a skill issue of just not knowing those items yet, which is totally fine! However I think the main point I was trying to get at was that the chip mods (and by extension implants and some shields) were really difficult to distinguish what they do at a moments notice. All I can really do is compare to d2 perk systems of what I personally would like to see. With d2 perks once I see what a perk does I mentally tie it to the symbol that i see so that I can mentally quick access it. With marathon, either because there ARE icons and I just couldn't notice them (I believe my vision is in decline, but I can hit a good shot dammit!) or there just are not any icons, theres no symbols i can immediately go "oh i know exactly what this does" and make my split second decision off that.

I think another case I have seen is that theres two green shields, one is broken into two 25% chunks and the other is one 50% chunk. At a moments glance (again please correct me if I am just blind or stupid, it happens too much in my field) theres no way to distinguish between the two shields. If there was, say, a chain that shows "hey the one 50% chunk shield is this one" i can easily identify that item and its purpose.

This is a bad mentality for 2 reasons:

1. People have pointed out valid criticisms of the game like the need to fix a little of their interface when it comes to implants, consumables and utility.
2. This is survivorship bias. You are discarding the statistic that is the players that didn't pre order the game and arriving at a conclusion that people who "bought" the game, not "tried" the game liked it. The truth is that there are reasons that some people didn't buy the game, some of which may be stupid but others are worth hearing out

Battlefield is a games where dude to 64 player lobbies, you can’t really do much by yourself. The game is 100% better with a 4 man squad fulfilling different roles, but playing with randoms is just a mess and not enjoyable
