ARC players might benefit from not asking "how friendly is Marathon gonna be" and instead asking "how high risk is it gonna be" because it's VERY high risk, and high-risk extraction shootesr plays like a fundamentally different than low risk (ARC).

Yup, almost every system in Marathon is designed as high risk and PvP centric, so you'll often have to contest for loot and quests like you said. Extraction will be difficult but more meaningful.
