I've dropped like 400 hours into Arc Raiders since its launch, and where I really think Marathon will differentiate itself (aside from just having a much more clearly-defined emphasis on 3-man squad-based PvP) is in the presentation, delivery, and scale of its narrative. It sounds like you know this already, but Arc Raiders' quests are incredibly bland, AI-voiced affairs that amount to almost nothing with regard to our understanding of that game's world. It feels like Bungie is really stepping up to the plate with Marathon to deliver a much more robust experience in that regard, which I think is awesome.

It has been a long time since I've played the original Marathon, but I recall part of that plot involving sending a warning message back to Sol about the Pfhor. I think that's what the "Somewhere in the heavens, they are waiting" bit was. She said it would take a long time for that message to relay back to them, and probably the Pfhor are capable of traveling at speeds that could outpace it, but at least we did what we could to warn everyone.

I could be wrong, because again, I'm just not sure where this game fits into the overall original timeline, or if its an off-shoot of a Marathon Infinite timeline, or what -- but I'm guessing Sol received her message, and this new game is everyone showing up at Tau Ceti IV, trying to figure out what the hell happened.

Honestly scav cooldowns were one of Tarkov's biggest mistakes. Like, if you get screwed and you've got no gear left, and your scav is on CD, you're just pushing a potential player off your game, and repeated frustration with a roadblock like that will just equal an uninstall.
