I think there really is only one way and reason to do this, and that is pretty much exactly how embark has decided to go about it with Arc Raiders.
Pay original VA a reasonable amt of money to build AI model of their character voice as well as speak standard/scripted lines
make sure VAs know devs will be using AI model to add contextual pings etc for new items/map locations
ONLY FUCKIN USE THE AI FOR THAT SHIT
If theres a big event, storyline bs etc get the actor back in their for the obvious large task that is and just use the AI to do menial shit that would be annoying for the dev and the va to come back for

Arc Raiders has a very casual playerbase, and there's a huge % of folks who absolutely do not want anything to do w/ PvP. They're very loud about wanting a PvE-only mode, and anyone who kills them is "a rat". In my experience, PvP in Arc Raiders is ... fine. I enjoy it when we engage in it with Squads, but I wouldn't play Arc Raiders for the PvP, if that makes sense. Its clunky. And a majority of the time, PvP in that game comes down to one side engaging in PvP and the other side not knowing they're PvPing at all until its too late to do anything about it.

Its part of why I'm so excited about Marathon, where the expectation is that PvP is what's happening.

Languishing?

Many D2 players blame Marathon, because obviously Bungie's gonna want to pull their best and their brightest onto the new project, to make sure it pops. In the meantime, yes, that has undeniably caused problems for D2 and its sandbox.

I'm not saying its right or its wrong for them to feel that way-
I'm just confirming from personal experience that, yes, there are absolutely D2 fans who want to see Marathon tank.

Marathon is a lot more PvP focused with PvE being supplemental
There’s going to be a special enemy type on the fourth map coming shortly after launch called Cryo Archive

How fast the game plays or how it feels depends on the runner (shell/class) you play. Some classes have a lot of movement tech, while others lack it in exchange for other gameplay benefits such as invisibility or player detection.

The game is most fun in trios. When you play to your teams strengths and abilities it feels very rewarding. It’s a lot more tactical and calculated than arc raiders imo.

This game is way faster paced (at least the way I played it). AI are all over points of interest and present a much more immediate threat since they can chase you into buildings and hiding from them is far more difficult. PvP is expected rather than the more ‘us against the machines’ mentality ARC fosters. From my time playing, gear and weapons were quite difficult to restock on since I am apparently dog water at the game. I really missed the crafting system from ARC compared to only having access to the store in marathon, personally.
