I've played Arc Raiders since release, and am presently bored out of my mind.
I completed 100% of this Season within the first 2 weeks of the last reset. They released a big new project to keep people playing for the next month, and I finished it in a single evening. There's no new map coming until April.

If you're playing Arc Raiders, and in your in anywhere near the position I'm in, then you're counting the days until Marathon releases.

In all seriousness, though, I do have plenty of friends that have expressed similar sentiments to me. Arc Raiders has been very popular, and has a tremendously casual playerbase. I have friends playing Arc Raiders that I have never seen playing a game online before. I have friends playing Arc Raiders that haven't gamed with me since CoD4. They know I'm just waiting for Marathon, and they're interested, but they know they realistically don't have time to play both games.

Its gonna be critical, yeah. I have a sizeable group of folks that I play Arc Raiders with currently, and I've convinced them all to give Marathon a shot during the playtest. Some of them are super excited about it. But it is gonna have to knock their socks off, to drag them away from Raiders.

That's what I'm excited about. My experience w/ Tarkov gave me the impression that Extraction Shooters might not be for me. But Arc Raiders proved otherwise. I have a blast with that game. But, after 400 hours, I feel like its a mile wide and an inch deep. Its too casual. And I'm really looking forward to Marathon, which feels like a middle-ground, with a strong emphasis on squad-based PvP.

That's a much more niche audience. But its a niche that I personally do fit into, so I'm jazzed.

Marathon has had no shortage of controversy and bad press.
The closed Alpha gameplay got dunked on
Bungie is turning it around with the updates, and the marketing, and I'm honestly super on-board right now. But that could all fall apart if the playtest / server slam happens before its fully-cooked. They have to land this.
