I saw a random 3 second vid of marathon where the player double taps a shotgun and uses a grappler in the middle of the air to pull himself away from the fight to continue long distance and I thought.

I run a fully stacked 2080ti I built like 2020 so I know I'm due for a rebuild. Probably in the next couple months, I'm assuming.

you are defo due for a rebuild but again, what screen resolution are you running? it kinda depends on that for the system you want to make, for instance i basically only play 4k and need a beefy computer for that in 2026, but if ur doing like 1080p, it shouldn't take an insane amount to get 240 i don't think. if your trying to SQUEEZE as much fps as possible on the lowest settings, this shouldn't be that expensive.

then again. everything is up 4 billion percent, so maybe hold off on getting a new rig 😭

I liked ABMM at first, but the more I engage with it, the more I actively dislike it as a system. Because, as I've mentioned before, I think the threat of PvP is critical to the enjoyment of that game as an experience. Knowing that someone could come outta nowhere and start taking shots at me, is what really gets the blood pumping.

But I'm not the kind of person who goes into matches and starts blasting random people, really. So the matchmaker puts me into really chill lobbies, where there's almost no threat of PvP at all. And that ruins the experience, genuinely.

I could absolutely start just randomly attacking people, to get myself out of that experience, but then I'd be in lobbies where everyone's PvP'ing and its a bloodbath. And that's not what I want, either.

The game was best before we figured all of that out. When every match felt threatening, and anyone could be a friend or a foe. Now its very binary -- you're either always w/ friends or you're always w/ foes. That sucks.

it aint even intended performance loss, it's just that the engine forces devs to work within its new optimization features (which are not only difficult to learn but are intended for optimizing a very specific subset of use-cases)
If you try and fight the engine in a way it wasn't built for then your intentionally taking the longer path and that leads to performance loss. Pretty much the only games that work well with unreal nowadays are the games made by Epic themselves
