and it is only gonna get worse the longer you get from launch when people don't care as much about getting loot or doing quests. Speaking of I think the loot pool is not exiting enough, I think regular grunt enemies need a small chance to drop good loot and the game needs exotic guns that stick out from all the box guns, it is kinda frustrating never knowing what kinda gun the enemy because they all look the same.

Sure, but other games do it better, Arc Raiders 3rd person makes defending easier, Tarkov has too many factors usually to just run across the map fast without clearing and hunt showdown has a very well designed audio system that punishes moving fast.

Well for example I got shot at mid range by a shotgun and proceeded to push him around the corner because I though he did so little damage because his aim was bad, then I insta die around the corner because he has a shotgun.

but i think the combat pacing is definitely different from other extractions do to the low ttk and 3 person squads, generally i guess knowing what weapon (beyond like, shotgun vs smg/rifle vs sniper/rail gun) a enemy runner has is not super important to actually winning fights in my experience

i dont think they look the same at all but i do think they are pretty easily lost in the silhouette, your eyes will naturally probably follow the bright outline or the ping so it takes some difficulty to parse what weapon a runner has especially when movement speed is so fast and the environments are so busy

it doesnt really break the game's combat or anything, my friend and i are regularly wiping whole lobbies worth of players only playing as a duo, but readability can definitely be a struggle during combat, its something that im only starting appreciate as i get a lil older because its one of the most important things for any competetive game

it's why i struggled to get into rivals (good game but really struggles with each characters abilities being readable at a glance) vs overwatch (ever since the move to ow2 the games readability has generally increased, since 2 players were taken out of the equation and overlapping shields, ults, and abilities was reduced)

also effected by stuff like the signal jam effect and bots having very humanoid silhouettes

they do compared to any other extraction shooter, they have the d2 syndrome where every single gun has this sci fi gunshot sound meaning the difference in guns are harder to tell, tarkov the gunshots are easily distinguishable, hunt showdown it is very easy to tell what type of gun you are playing against and same with Arc because of the sound design, not only is this kinda bad in Marathon, but adding them having the same shapes, same and color palette which happens to be a dark blue that makes it harder to see the depth of the gun

The game is very tactical in PvP mode. It was my first experience with extract shooters. I really enjoyed the test, especially the race to find the PC key that turns off the gas in a room. I once managed to catch the red zone that enveloped the city. My guys didn't immediately figure out how to play it, but I even got to run around in it a bit. I hope the game finds its audience. The test is wonderful; I want to play more.

A special thanks to the artists; the visual style is truly futuristic, the characters are interesting.

What mostly turns people off is the PvP because this isn't a run-and-gun game. You can do that, but certain conditions apply to character selection and augmentations.

I'd also like to add that the optimization is excellent.
From a technical and design perspective, everything is top-notch.
