I mean it just feels like they did it because 1. Ziegler only knows how to make hero based games and panicked when he came in to see that players could look how they want… 2. They went the hero route so they don’t add more work onto their plates by creating hundreds of items to customise our characters with

I think number 2 is definitely the reason. Zeigler was and is in a crunch to get the game out and went with what he knew. I don’t fault the guy it’s a pretty stressful situation, but also you came into a legendary studio known for its customization options. Like what else was the response to hero’s going to be.

Like in the vidoc we saw an artist playing with 4 or 5 attachments on a gun that looked like it could be customised. Stocks, mags, scope, barrel etc etc but in the alpha it’s just 4 attachment slots right?

The story in the arg’s had you be your own custom runner that you’d buy a biomata shell from and customise illegally. There was nothing ever about mass production of the same shell until after the reveal

Lore wise custom runners could definitely work I think. At least modular parts on a runner would be cool for aesthetic purposes

The system they had previously with the different biomata class system was perfect. Starting from class C which was the cheapest and least durable all the way up to class A with class S being an unreleased model that only traxus had 5 of I think due to their partnership with sekgen.

This was literally the perfect system for custom runners as the biomata were just the base frames with special traits the higher the tier but then your own custom pieces of armour that you’d put on top of them

It even said what each class behaved like. C was slow and bulky, could withstand more hits but wasn’t fast. B was a balance of agility and durability. A was fast, nimble and had a special ability. S was the most expensive selling at 10,000,000 credits per unit, they came with open source so could be modified straight out of the incubator meaning illegal mods like cloaking or damage repair from the worms on the go…

Like tell me that ain’t the uncommon, rare, legendary and exotic of the biomata system

And like obviously you’d have to save up to buy them or have them printed from sekgen or black market

How much you put in is largely irrelevant. Streamers are vectors for large engagement and purchasing. But it's tricky, cos they are all like IT'S NOT COD IT SUCKS or something.

Bungie is doing a good job of opening it's ears post the alpha however, and I'll concede to that.
