Well, I can’t really elaborate in the slightest. But it’s pretty much already been explained by the devs, the artist was made whole, and the extent of the asset lifting was absolutely minuscule. Like the overall Aesthetic is absolutely MASSIVE.

People will forget the art thing. Honestly it was just “content creators” controversy grifting let’s be real.

No one talked about Arc Raiders during their Alpha test because it was a bad game and it took 2 years to get out of alpha to beta state. They can’t get in the bull pin with Bungie in a Beta vs Alpha to get fake publicity from Marathon hype, ridicule them, and not expect them to get burned in the end because their game release is going to be inferior.

Hey devs, u want Marathon to be successful ? Easy.

Make the game 2-3x more fast in movement, add some walljump, smooth slide, upgrade a loooooot the stamina bar.
For the shooting sensation delete definitively the mouse magnetism (wtf is that), remove the gameplay rigidity found in all Bungie games, such as Destiny 2, which resembles Black Ops 2.
Take inspiration from The Finals for the feel of shooting, weapon movements, movement, etc and GG ! the game is banger.

Because right now, the game is called Marathon, we play as “runners,” but in-game, running is super slow, and sprints are way too short, so it's just a terrible mismatch.

For me, let's say I start a brand new game, and the other players outperform me because they're better at managing speed, movement, shooting, and all that stuff... I just want to practice to improve, not quit the game because I'm not good enough...
It's all a question of mindset.

My only goal here was to share my perspective based on thousands of hours of playing various fast-paced, competitive FPS games such as Apex Legends, The Finals, and COD (which is in a disastrous state, by the way).
I also understand that not all players have the same desires as me when it comes to video games, but I find it just sad to see a game as slow, as rigid, and as boring as Marathon TODAY, when it's called “MARATHON” and we're playing “RUNNERS,” quite simply 🙂

Now, it all depends on what the developers want. If they want to attract a mainstream audience that everyone can enjoy with fast-paced action and all that, I think it could appeal to a lot of players.
On the other hand, I sincerely believe that if they want to target a niche audience, specific to the Bungie universe, without stepping outside their comfort zone, it could be very complicated.
It will appeal to casual players who only play a few hours a week or month, but it remains to be seen whether the vast majority of players will stick around.

But anyway, I'm nobody, my opinion won't change anything, so let's just wait and see what the developers have in store for us.

Marathon is intentionally slow, mimicking Tarkov. However, there is a disassociation between the terms "Runners" and actual movement system/tech in the game, which it heavily lacks. Gunplay is nice, but not the movement. Looks insanely slow, rigid, dumbed down. What is the point of my 480hz monitor if the game is intentionally made to be slow? Anyway, I do agree there needs to be an improvement with the movement tech/systems.

But again, what I want more is actually building verticallity in the level design - more vertical map layouts, bring the action to a second axis other than horizontal. Which would require No Fall Damage in order to play good, like in Apex Legends

COD DMZ: as much fun it was, its broken and abandoned

I can speak of experience from the first alpha playtest. The game was fun and teamplay was actually amazing. Yes the drama about the plagiarism on art style is bad and Bungie should be punished about it

Basically every action you did generated heat(Marathon’s stamina system) so you had to be mindful about what you were gonna do

Most of the time when to people of similar skill level fight, they stalemate, and the fight runs for much longer than you anticipate. It becomes a more tactical slower paced game, but when in a much better position, or fights with differing skill levels, the fights are really fast paced. All in all the fights become very different from each other, and boring fights are done quicker.

I am worried that they make the heat less dominant from the feedback though... I felt it was at a perfect spot in the alpha, and pace of gameplay is a very hard thing to slow down after launch. Personally I only felt that the heat created by slide needed a bit adjustment as Slide should be for going to cover, not for movement demon type stuff

I havent played any of them more than a couple of hours each, but they felt the same to me... Feels like youre shooting a pea shooter no matter what gun you have and most enemies have 3x the ammount of health than Id like...
